Insomnia & Questions

My Dr started me on Topamax 3 days ago for my migraines. Being the nurse that I am, I read all the literature on it. The first night was great, slept like a baby. But now, I am having insomnia & difficulty getting comfortable when I go to bed. Has anyone else experienced this & if so, does it go away? And, is it associated with the generic version only?
I think my Dr may have increased my dose too quickly.(from 25mg to 50mg on 3rd day) Will try the 25mg for a week & see if the insomnia goes away.
Also, I find nothing about "habit forming" properties or it being a "controlled substance". It sure has the effect of a narcotic/controlled substance. Does anyone know?

When I first started Topamax (2-3 years ago) I suffered from Insomnia as well. It was awful to struggle through. It lasted for almost two months. I probably should've mentioned it to my doctor, but I was pleased my seizures were gone...and that I was losing weight. I also had horrible pains in my legs and knees at that time.
I have switched over to generic since I've lost insurance, and didn't 're-experience' these side effects when I began taking it.

Falling asleep is still tough, but I blame that on my wondering mind, although it could definitely be caused by the Topamax.
