Funny, my SIL is on Synthroid, and she's a bean pole. I am not, lol, but I've found that it might be due to my adrenal problems. Have you considered using a supplement like Isocort? I ordered some for myself, to see if that helps. There is nothing more frustrating than working out and eating right and losing no weight. I haven't gotten the Isocort, so I can't tell you if it worked for me, but I will let you know what happens when I start taking it.

I know firsthand about adrenal disorders, weight gain and hypothyroid. About 3 years ago I put on an alarming amount of weight in a very rapid time (30lbs in about 5 weeks). I have a history of serious overtraining and belive it is one of the reasons my adrenals were so bad. I tried Isocort to no relief. I went on compounded hydrocortisone and I lost the weight almost as quickly as I put it on (30lbs in 3 months). After being on the cortisone for a year I started to wean; at that point I had put back on 15lbs (call me crazy but I think flying on airplanes does my body in big time - anyone else?) so then I went off the cortisone completely and wham gained more weight - another 10. I was also having a hard time adjusting to no cortisone - I was vomiting almost daily. After 3 months off cortisone I went back on it; but no weight loss. One of my many docs told me that happens - kinda like a rebound effect. Oh and I should also note that I'm on 9 grains of armour (everything else makes me severe hypothyroid)I know I'm babbling - so I guess in short my advice would NOT to go on Isocort or Hydrocortisone; there are safer ways to treat adrenal issues. Hey all,

I have been healthy for the better part of my life untila few years ago. I was feeling ill and looking jaundiuce and discovered through bloodwork that I had HYPOthyroidism. After many doc visits, my throid was taken out 1 1/2 yrs ago due to an enlarged goiter and evidence of hasimoto's disease. The surgery was most painful; oh,they also took 3/4 parathyroid glands as my levels were extremely high for years and then apparently just burnt out...Ayways, feeling bad..I take LEVOXYL 150; my levels keep changing as my body cycles through fatigue, weakness, joint and muscle pain, brain fog, and pure exhaustion. I think iot might be due to adrenal glands..Does anyone out there have anything that worked for them? Anything you can recommend??
Thanks,

Some cancer treatments have steriods in them and these can cause rapid weight changes. I would ask my doctor to do some blood work to check your thyroid levels. That is all you have to have done to find out. I have had problems with my thyroid since I was 21 I've been on levoxyl since I was 23 I have went from 110lbs to 170 during this time. My weight changes constanly. I have tried diet and excersize but nothing works. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Best of luck!!!

I have had problems with my adrenals for a long time. High levels of cortisol were found in my blood when I was 25 but the adrenals MRI I had tested fine, so I was left to my own devices. At some point of my life, I was stressed sick and started losing my hair and having ulcers. Recently, I have been advised by a health store advisor who had had the same problems with adrenal malfunction to take Panthothenic Acid ( Solgar brand) twice a day as well as Ashwandha twice a day and I have lost almost 2 kilos in 10 days. I used to take a supplement for adrenals but it has animal adrenal gland extract. I lost 10 kilos while on a severe diet and exercise program and taking these adrenal extract supplement and gained a lot once I stopped taking them. I am very happy with my more natural and vegetarian treatment. Hope it is of help for you.

Thanks, Rave. I will look for these products at my local GNC store. I'm willing to try most anything to get some of this weight off me.
