I went to the doctor with what I thought was the flu. He immediately gave me tamilflu. After four doses, I started hallucinating, could not stand up, developed pneumonia, ear infections and was hospitalized for five days.
I started doing research on the internet and found that these symptoms were not that uncommon especially with teenagers. I am 59.
I feel that I was given a bad batch of the tamiflu. I still can not walk across the room without giving out of energy and still have the lung infection.
What started as a case of the flu ended up being a serious condition for me after four doses of Tamiflu. Does anyone else know of someone with this same reaction?
Please be very careful about taking this drug.

Thank you very much for your story. My daughter was prescribed Tami Flu in March of 2007. After taking the drug, she completely lost her ability to walk for three straight days. Thankfully after I prayed and stopped giving her the tami flu she started slowy walking again the next day, now she is back to normal. I worry about other children given this drug because the doctor at the urgent care said she had seen another child the same day with similar symptoms. Some people will have a bad enough reaction to this drug, that I beileve the risk out weigh the benefit.

Hi Kim,

Was there any other negative effects on your daughter? There was a USA Today article about the effects of Tamiflu and wanted to know more about what happened to her after taking the drug?

Dan, My Son in law has recently had a horrible reaction to Tamiflu resulting in Abnormal behavior . We are looking to talk with anyone who has had the same experience to see how long it lasted and how they treated it in the meantime. Please! We are reaching out for help. We would love to talk to a doctor who has treated someone with these same reactions. Hope you can help us. Darty

Tamiflu almost crushed my family.. I am 22 and after taking the drug I had numerous hallucinations, lost ability to walk, vomited on average three times a day and most severly became so depressed seeds of suicide began to poison my every thought.. Im still not fully recovered and now forced to seek psychiatric help and try to balance out my life again.. I went from normal college student to barely holding on..
After recieving news of flu my father became sick as well.. but he didnt have the flu but was quickly given the tamiflu.. ya know just in case.. 54 years old it turned on him as well. Hallucinations, vomiting and serious lung and breathing problems that had him hospitalized five times.. As we both struggle to regain health and mental stablility.. one must wonder how such a drug can be so easily given out like candy ... STAND UP PEOPLE LET YOUR VOICES BE HEARD A NATION WILL DIE SILENTLY WITHOUT YOU!! help me and all of you suffering its hidden side effects! joeyc303@q.com

within 20 minutes of taking tamiflu I had two petit mal seizures, headaches that felt like a starter was making connections and firing every 4 to 12 seconds. These weird headaches went on for 12 to 15 hours after taking a pill.

I finally got a doctor to examine me. The mri showed an abnormality in my hypocampus. A stress test revealed a right bundle branch blockage. Are these related?

My 14 yr. old told me that he his head felt "weird and fuzzy" after taking Tamiflu. He never seemed to get better. I honestly thought it was just a really bad case of the flu and nothing else. After taking his final dose of the drug I noticed him getting more emotional and the next day he was suffering from SEVERE anxiety and suicidal thoughts. Something that we have never seen in him before...we took him to the hospital immediately and were told that it was most likely a Tamiflu reaction. They started a IV to flush the meds out of him...he ended up being the hospital for 6 days.
I feel like a horrible mother for just trusting our doctor and not researching this medication before I gave it to my son. I can honestly say that this was the worst thing our family has had to deal with to date. PLEASE...don't take this medication!

Hi,
i am 23 years old and taking this medication made me experience the following things:

i felt like a thousand ants crawling on my arms

i started hearing things

then i got really really depressed and super super suicidal

then i got super super dizzy and couldnt focus or walk right
all the while i wanted to throw up so bad

i got really bad stomach aches
hardcore abdominal pains

and everytime i had to take it i would feel really afraid and didint want to take it but since the doctor prescribed it, well i took them.

i stopped now that i read all this
thank God i was just on my 5th dose, but am afraid since i read it can cause permanent brain damage.
im so scared still and still feel depressed

DO NOT TAKE TAMIFLU ppl!!!

My partner took tamiflu, a severe asthmatic, on his second dose he spent 4 hours being sick, couldnt straighten up as he was doubled up in pain, he was sweating from every pore of his body. He had headaches and struggled to breathe. I called an ambulance. Because he had been given tamiflu the paramedics did not want to take him to hospital, they spent half an hour on the phone before telling me the g.p would call me back. At 3pm ( he took it at 9 am) a dr called me back telling me she sent a prescription to counter the sickness and stomach pain. No chemist was open so I had to wait til the next day. Thankfully he was only on the second dose so it came out his system pretty quickly.... I dread to think what would have happened if he had continued the treatment. His Dr advised his him to continue taking tamiflu alongside the the other medication, I am glad we ignored the advice after reading this!!

I've been on tamiflu since Monday and am having nasty headaches and vomiting. I've been told to have food with the tablets, and can only manage a small amount, because knowing your going to be throwing up with one hour of having the tablets doesn't make you want to eat.
Is this normal?? Cause its horrible!!

I was diagnosed with flu last week. I had been taking the tamiflu and from the first dose i was violently sick and had a temperature over 39 degrees celcius. I carryed on taking the tablets prsuming it was the flu that was making me ill untill i started hulousinating and becoming quite confused. My message to anyone is not to take it because it does not actually cure you it just reduces your illness by 1-2 days tops. SO KEEP OFF THIS SORRY EXCUSE FOR AN ANTI-VIRAL

come on people get a grip!

Yes it may have sever side effects in certain people but there are only 19 posts on here!

Think of all the hundreds of thousands of people that have taken this drug since the first post. Its like any drug it reacts badly in some people.

For the majority its a good drug saving lives!

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Pisces

Someone is extremely headstrong and defiant today, and there's every chance that you're the one fitting this description. The more others are trying to make you behave yourself or do what they want, the more determined you'll be to do the exact opposite. Well, it is a Full Moon, and a lunar eclipse in emotional Cancer, so you're excused! Show them that you're an individual in your own right without going completely overboard about it, because that will cause trouble. Then once you've got all that off your chest you can relax and look forward to a really Happy New Year!
