Hi! How many of you have withdrawn from all the drugs? I mean, I think it's another thing to withdraw from just one of the drugs and have some as a sort of a backup. I think the most difficult is to get of the final drug, be it then whatever neuroleptic...

Hi Just wanted to update I have now been on a week of gradually reducing my dose of serequol from 400mg- 200mg and thank god I am feeling good!I have not really had any side effects I am sleeping well and feeling good!!My appetite has went back 2 normal and I have not expeperienced that urge to eat as I use to wake up during the night and go like a zombie to the kitchen and eat!!I have actually managed to loose 2 pounds this week so long may it continue!!I would not advise anyone 2 come of their meds without talking to the doctor but if you can and still feel good I think thats a bonus!

Regarding hair loss and going off Seroquel, has anyone (females specifically) had experience with hair loss and hair thinning while on Seroquel? If you have and you have gone off Seroquel, did the hair regrow to what it was like before you were ever on Seroquel? If not, what was it like? Did it stay the same?

Any pertinent comments on that will be appreciated!

Hi, I've used Seroquel for four years in the past. My hair got very thin. But I quit using Seroquel about 6 months ago. My hair has gotten more thicker again and the colour has changed back to normal. Before it was very much lighter. My hair is still thinner what it used to be but of course hair grows back really slowly so I'm not sure yet about the final outcome.

Thank you all for your sharing your experiences. I feel less alone in my medication experiences by reading about others.
I have been on Seroquel for a couple of years, with a short time off. I succeeded in getting off of it for a few months but it took a long time for the insomnia to go away.
I started taking it again when my insomnia became intractable. But it does not work well for my insomnia anymore. When I finally fall asleep after taking 200mg. of Seroquel I end up waking up every few hours and have a hard time getting back to sleep. So, for me, the seroquel is not working well for my insomnia anymore.
In the book "Toxic Psychiatry" the author asserts that these neuroleptics are actually like chemical lobotomies in that they suppress the prefrontal cortex and cause an apathetic, indifferent effect.
The author further posits that the brain damage they may cause can be permenant. That and the links to tardive dyskinesthia, diabetes, and breast cancer are alarming enough for me to want to stop.
I myself have noticed extreme agitation, which would seem to be the least likely side effect of Seroquel but it is there and it is making it difficult for me to get through the day.
Has anyone else experienced agitation as a side effect of Seroquel?
Yes, I got the agitation and the tardive dyskinesia

I wish I had paid more attention when I read "Toxic Psychiatry and realized it could happen to me as well. Seroquel has given me tardive dyskinesia, extreme agitation. I didn't think it would happen to me. I think I have diabetes too, and constant nosebleeds

I always thought that the serious side effects of medications must be really rare, or they wouldn't have been approved by the FDA. However, that is not the case, as I have now learned from doing more reading about Seroquel and reading patient comments on here. Thanks so much to everyone who has shared their experiences with it! It helps others make more informed decisions.

Hi I've been on lithium for four years and the tremors didn't seem that bad. Although I was on the wrong meds for years and because of that lamictal and seroquel were added. That is when the tremors increased. In Feb.I went cold turkey with the seroquel and lamictal which I don't recommend, but I was seriously ill.

Now it's a brand new world, but I still experience some withdrawls from those drugs but each it's better. I might add that I was on extremely high dose of the seroquel.
With the lithium drink water(don't go crazy with the water)and have your blood levels taken regularly. Oh, I might add that I have a friend, who has been on lithium since 1972 and she's great! I hope this helps.

One more thing try some flaxseed oil. I'm pushing it because it works for me. It seems to smooth the brain out if you understand that!

Just saw your comments here. Would you mind telling of any side effects you've experience with lithium, if any, and how long you've been on it? I'm just wondering about what people's experiences with it are like (knowing though that it can vary from person to person).

Hi, I did experience hair loss especially my eyebrows. My hair was thinning so I had my thyroid checked and sure enough it off. I read recently that seroquel can cause a thyroid problem.
I don't recall the time frame, but my eyebrows started to grow back although the hair on my legs not so much, but that could be good thing! As far as my hair, I'm not sure about it growing although I am encouraged with the idea. With me it might take longer since I was on a very high dosage, but I could be wrong.

I have only been on this drug for about 3 months, at a dose of 75mg a night now. I have muscle aches, headaches, increased irritability, inability to concentrate and inability to sleep without it. I am so done with this already. Starting tonight I'm dropping back to 50mg, and in a week 25mg. Then one more week and im done. I am so put out with my dr. that he never warned me of any of the possible side effects. I was put on it for my BPD, but God knows I was definitly at least physically better before this awful drug. Got my stash of tylenol and gravol to get thru the withdrawls but damn I can't wait till this is over.

I just read this from the Bottom Line/Health, Drs' favorite home remedies
which states that, "red clover tea helps relieve symptoms from red, swollen hives
treating them from the inside out Red clover tea helps to flush toxins out of the blood. The toxins may be esscaping through the skin, resulting in hives and rashes. Drink 3-4 cups a day of red clover tea for a month to thoroughly rid your system of irritants." I hope this works! I'm going to give it a try myself.

I was on Seroquel from 2002 - 2008 and never took more than 50mg at night. I weened off the drug after I felt I was no longer benefiting from it. I weened off over a 10 day period. Shortly thereafter I have experienced chronic hives on my back, legs, arms and hands. It's been a year and the hives are getting worse. About once a month my lips swell to 3 or 4 times their size. I have been to 2 allergists and have had a ton of tests. I mostly manage the hives with Zyertc and Xyzal but this is no way to live. I am not taking any other anxiety medication. Steroids work but once the treatment is over, they come back. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm in desperate need of a resolution!
