ritalin overdose

I took 100 mg of ritalin this evening, and my resting heart rate has been at 210 for the past 5 or 6 hours. Should I go to the hospital? I'm a 19 year old female that doesn't need any more trouble. Will this pass? Are there any at-home remedies? email at [e-mail]

I took 3 20 milligram pills and then took about 1 every hour till I had a taken 8 and I am wondering if it is bad to where I am going to have a heart attack or sumthing too so i came here and posted this and I feel less hyper now that I have been on it for about 8 or 9 hours but I am wondering if I can die if I did it again or how much is deadly in a certain amount of time or something like that, Becuase I got it from a friend and I took it for getting a high and dont take it ever besides tonight.

So I'm a total idiot and I took 26 pills (each 10mg) over about 12 hours...snorted the last 10 or so and had them at different intervals. haha wasn't trying to kill myself or anything, really, just took another few once I felt it was wearing off. It all started with taking 15 mg to stay up to study for a test (friend gave it to me), then I figured, let's take more because it's going to be a long night, pop in 3. Look an hour has passed, should take a few more, don't want to sleep tonight, pop 5 since 3 didn't seem to be so bad. You get the picture. Again, I'm an idiot. But it's been 10 hours since the last pill I snorted and I'm feeling fine. Definitely still more energetic than I should be and food intake feels awful but my heart feels okay. Slight muscle contractions have stopped, tingling also. Note to everyone, though it doesn't kill you, 260mg is not a good idea.

I'm not sure what a fatal dosage is but I wouldn't recommend more than 100mg for a single dose. It depends more on your body weight (I weigh 170lbs, 20 yrs male). I have done it several times for abusive purposes and I usually do 100-150mg over a 2-3 hour period. 260mg may kill you if taken all at once, Idiot may only have survived because of this. I'm no doctor and am only trying to prevent someone from od'ing. 260mg is the most I've heard of in a 12 hour period.

thats alot whoever took 260. the most i take in a day is 120-140 at MOST. i am overweight i dont think the normal weight person should take more then 100mg

the past few weeks ive been hammered with projects and papers. I take a 5mg booster every hour to help me pull all nighters. and even THATS enough to mess me up. im jumpy, iritable, and havent sleped in 3 days.

i take ritalin for my ADD, and i have instant release 10 mg pills and ten extended release 54 mg concerta pills which are the same. so once i took 7 of the 54's and within hallf an hour i was in the ambulance geting my stomach pumped.

Don't be stupid with this stuff, it is no joke, it can cause you major anxiety, and death, drink kava tea, and if you have to, take valium. Check your heart rate, if you're gonna be dumb and snort as much as much as the people above have, at least start your day with a big meal, because your body won't be able to eat anything, and space it out, never take this much at once, that's nuts. At least space it out, but I say leave this crap alone, I took it for school one semester, then left it, my grades dropped, but at least I had my brain back.

if you are going to be dumb anyway, and take this stuff, just check your resting heart rate often. If you reach 100, it is time to call it a day. I know this ritalin sounds harmless, but it effects your brain the same way cocaine does, think about that????
If you are going to be dumb, like dude said above, space it out, check your heart rate, and if you have heart problems flush this stuff down the toilet, think about your family people, do you really want to be the person on the front page of the local paper?

You really should not be using ritalin as a diet pill. The appetite decrease usually only lasts a week even with a 140mg dose a day. Out of all the stimulants it has the least effect on appetite, next to caffeine in 600mg doses (3 cups of coffee). Something such as dextroamphetamines (dexedrine) or methamphetamines (desoxyn) or amphetamine salts (adderall) works much better for appetite decrease and weight loss. If your doctor has prescribed ritalin to you for that purpose go and speak to him about it.

This is not actually correct. Ritalin does not affect the brain the same way cocaine does. Cocaine is a much more potent stimulant last for a much shorter time. It also effects the neurotransmitters somewhat differently then cocaine. Methylphenidate has a more similar effect on the brain as methamphetamines (also prescribed as desoxyn to treat ADD AND ADHD, or for depression). The only difference is their potency's, especially in the stimulation department (street speed is dextroamphetamines or methamphetamines in a crystal form so it's smokable). Cocaine and methamphetamines either smoked, snorted, or intra-veineously (injected) lead to an extremely short lived intense euphoria (mostly due to the fact that it breaks the blood to brain barrier extremely quickly, within seconds. Methylphenidate takes about 15 to 20 minutes) where as methylphenidate is no where near as potent and does not cause such an intense euphoria (even intra-veineously). For this reason it is not considered to be the same but merely in the same group called stimulants, it is NO WHERE REAR as addictive and potencialy harmful as cocaine!

I don't know.. yeah Adderall is way better with decreasing appetite (I took it for a few years and lost a ton of weight) but it also can (maybe?) last longer than Ritalin does. I guess it depends on how much you eat on a daily basis. Like me, I'm 17 and I weigh only 135lbs(at most) and I am underweight, although I eat non-stop over the weekend because I don't take Ritalin on the weekend, and I notice it a lot when I'm not on the Ritalin while I'm eating versus when I'm not on the Ritalin while I'm eating.
I love to eat, I eat more than any of my friends that are all taller/bigger than me, but I never gain a pound.. So I guess my weekend is my break away from 5 days of not eating normal to 2 Days of eating almost non-stop. but yeah this is just my opinion from my personal experience of taking both the Drugs for a year or so and am well aware of the affects it had on me and enough time for it to fully kick into my system and work like it's supposed to.

i have to take my wife's prescripton to work and leave her the necessary amount of pills because she is so stupid she keeps taking them looking for some type of miracle effect. she is 27 years old. last night I took 15 20 mg capsules within 5 hours, and drank 8 cups of coffie with it... and a first time abusing ritalin, when I was younger I had a really bad case of ADHD so I was on ritalin then.. but I hadnt taken ritalin for 7 years,(Im 17) plus I drank alot of coffee (8 cups) I dont know if Im just really really lucky or not, first I just took like 5 at 12 pm, but after one hour I took 4 every 20 min, plus drinking alot of coffee, I was feeling good all day, alot of energy, but when it came to like 7 pm, aaaallll day me and my friend couldnt shut up, we talked in circles, then around 7 pm, I was getting really fucked up, I was so fucked I couldnt even think, its like my brain was interegating me, it just asked questions and just asked a diffrent question every 3 seconds, I thought I was going insane, but the thing is, that all day I just had an empty stomach, just coffee and 15x 20 mg ritalin capsules, thats like 300 mg I took with only coffee in 5 hours tops, but I really dont recommend doing this, because this really fucked me up, now Its like 08:30 and Im finally getting my mind back, I am also extremely mentally exhausted, I just want to ask,
does 300 mg ritalin capsules with 8 cups of coffee mixed in 5 hours, I just need to know if Im extremely lucky, or just it dont do shit, cuz I was really fucked up. I really thought I was insane, my brain was interegating me it was too fucked up... I just gotta know since Im finally getting my mind back

Nothing is worth killing yourself over. No matter how bad everything seems at this time, IT WILL GO AWAY AND GET BETTER! If you kill yourself, there is no turning back. What has you under such stress that you would even consider killing yourself. If someone has hurt your or broken your heart, believe me I know from experience, you may not feel this way right now, BUT YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS!! This is not the end of the world.
