My son has been useing pulmicort q/12 .50 for about 8 yrs he is now 9, when the generic came out this pasted year we were happy because of price, our Dr and PHarmasist insited it was the same..... but almost with 2weeks my son had trouble breathing and had to be but on liquid steoids for 10day but took about 3 months before he could breath clear again, we think it was the change in pulmicort brands??? but not sure we have switched back to the orginal manufacture of pulmicort...and not i notice the generic is hard to get from any pharmacy they cannot order it or get it in stack?????????/ anyone???

My husband went to the pharmacist today and they told me the generic is no longer available(on the market) and they had to fill it with the name brand. It was much more but maybe it is worth it since your son could not breathe on the generic. My son only took the generic for a month and we did notice a difference for the best but maybe the name brand will be even better. I sure do hope so.

If your son has asthma you should search the internet for the BUTEYKO method. There are many YOUTUBE videos. Just put in a search for BUTEYKO and also buy a book called "CLOSE YOUR MOUTH" by Patrick McKeown. I had asthma for 50 years and I took the BUTEYKO course. I no longer need my simbacort or my abutreol inhaler. Tell your son NOT to breath deeply, keep his lips closed, ONLY BREATH THRU HIS NOSE. Ashtma is the result of OVER BREATHING. Too complicated to go into which is why you should get the book and, if you can, go to Patrick Mckeown's seminars. He has one in November in Long Beach, Ca. Above all DO NOT put your trust in what doctor's tell you. When I was your son's age, they told me my asthma was all psychological and I should relax and breath deeply. The WORSE thing you can do is to breath deeply. Remember, the pharma corporations and the doctors do not want you cured. They make too much money keeping the circle going. |

Thanks for the info Mike... But my son was Dx back in 2000 with, Tracheal Stenosis complete at 4m old..this is a narrowing of the airway treacheal rings and if surgery is not done the patient will die due to respatory distress, so ashma is not his Dx, just an easy why to discribe why he takes these meds..Even now at 9ys old he is seen by the ENT/childrens hospital la for surgeical procedure to check and make sure his airway is developing correctly...other than that he is a very health 9 yr old boy,,, PS... he just got his 2nd degree black belt... pretty cool for a kids thats bee to hell and back...thks

I've been using the generic and it has WORKED for my son. You might want to check the amount that you use. My son is 4'3 and 96 pounds. He uses TWO of the .5 mg and IT WORKS. Maybe your child is not using enough. It is such a shame if they are removing it from the market. If that is the case, Pulmicort is 400 for us. I'm going to write some letters.

I just purchased Pulmicort for $414 and I'd be interested in the generic. I had heard it was pulled because of a lawsuit. Apparently it is still available? Thanks for any help Barbara!

I believe it is being taken off the shelves. Not sure yet why..I am researching it now. Our son has been on it for about 4 months now; nothing bad to report. He is 3 years old. Not sure what the deal is. |

I had the same experience. Was told that generic was on back order last night I called and asked how much longer because it had been months we had been waiting, I was told she didn't know why but maybe there had been a recall on it which caused me to immediately check into that today. Just found out on a website that there is no FDA approved generic for Pulmicort. That Budesonide was not an approved drug and to immediately refuse use of that medication and advise your doctor if your child had used it unknowingly. Google an article are there fakes and frauds in your nebulizer a reprint from 2004 fall issue of Allergy & Asthma Today.
