Hi I am looking to speak to people who have taken/ are taking modafinil for background research for a BBC British documentary. Any conversation would be confidential, but it would be great if you could email me a contact number where and when I could call you. Bet Kito |

1 I'm not a Provigil user. To my understanding Provigil is still addictive. "Modafinil (Provigil), a newer stimulant, isn't as addictive and doesn't produce the highs and lows often associated with older stimulants." ~~~According to this particular webpage: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/narcolepsy/D... |

1 I am a recovering crystal meth and crack addict. Ive been abusing stimulants for over 20 year. I have tried to quit for the last 10 years with NO success.. I have tried everything I could think about aa, na, ca, multiple rehabs and hospitals...I was considered a totally hopeless case until about a month ago when I was given Provigil by a addiction specialist to see if it would help me cope with my stimulant cravings. The difference I experience from taking Provigil is dramatic. I have had zero cravings for the past month and felt "normal" for the first time in over 20 years... I am taking 200mg in the morning and 200mg at noon. It doesnt make me high. It just magically stops the evil cravings for stimulants. I hope it will continue to work. |

Does anyone take Provigil for MS? I am so extremely tired all the time and I need to get my work done, which is virtually impossible. I am on the verge of losing my job. I do work at home, so I am fortunate enough to be able to take naps, but I do not want to do that all day long. I drink at least a whole pot of coffee, sometimes two pots, just to keep me going. On the downside, it worsens my Menieres disease, which I also have...ringing in ears, vertigo, hearing loss. Around 8 months ago I underwent open heart surgery because I had a huge hole in my heart, which they found a year ago and also diagnosed me with MS. I should be dead by now! Life expectancy is age 42 years old with the heart defect, and I was exactly 42 when I was rushed to the hospital. My vertigo from MS and Menieres saved my life, but yet here I am stuck with it for the rest of my life! I need energy and I am hoping that my doc will prescribe something to keep me awake. Coffee just makes me irritable and pee a lot. MS causes urinary problems anyways. Grrr..im at my wits end here.

1 Provigil is & has so far been considered a non-addictive medication, due to lack of withdrawal symptoms in studies & very few reported post clinical study withdrawal cases. However, Provigil effects the brain in much the same way that cocaine does, so if you were previously a cocaine user (or other similar amphetamines) it does in fact carry a risk of abuse/addiction. It is still considered non-addictive - & likewise mainly carries risk of abuse by former addicts - because the 'addiction' to Provigil is (much like seen with Marijuana 'addiction') mental, rather than physical. I don't doubt that you have the urge & feel a need to abuse Provigil & as these developments become more widely known I hope doctors are more inclined to proceed with caution in cases such as yours. I wish you all the best. |

The highest dosage that can legally be prescribed is 400 mg per day. If you are truly taking 500 mg per day I strongly suggest you speak to whoever is willing to break the law & quite possibly lose their license for you. Provigil can have some very serious side effects, which are greatly increased with a higher dosage. During the clinical studies one healthy male volunteer took 600 mg per day for 14 days & his side effects included severe hallucinations, paranoia, as well as high blood pressure - to list only a few. Hence the highest possible legally prescribed dosage being set at 400 mg/day. |
