what happens when you quit taking provera?

I am wondering the same thing. I have been taking provera, 10 mg/day, everyday, for the past 8 years, (for irregular bleeding). I stopped them early May 2006. No significant change yet.

I was put on depo for irregular bleeding and i am now reading everywhere that you should not take depo if you have irregular bleeding. i was on it for about a year and a half and stopped taking it in january 2006 and i got my period right away and was getting it every month (on time or a week or two late) but now 8 months later i am over a month and a half late. i havent gone to the doctor yet. i could be back to my irregular bleeding but its kinda later than its ever been. my nipples are really sore and ive had an upset stomach the last two days also. i was thinking i might be pregnant but i took two tests that said i wasnt so i looked online and a lot of females that get off depo get all the signs of early pregnancy but its from depo and their not pregnant. but most of these women say they havent gotten their period since they got off of it. i have gotten but i suddenly stopped. i really hope im not pregnent but i need to know if anyone else has gone thru this?

ive just been prescribed provera tablets today for irregular bleeding so thought id find out about them on the web. ive heard the horror stories of depo provera, can anyone tell me if these tablets have caused bad side effects cos at the moment im slim and dont want to put on a load of weight and get hairy.

I have taken provera 10 in 1998 for excessive/irregular bleeding. Now i have been place on them for 1 year. Will this demolish my chances of becoming pregnant, because i was told that i should use condoms all the time while taking the medication.

I was put on provera in january for Endometriosis but the I started bleed late February and I bleed for a whole month right into April. The Doctor gave me premarin with provera to stop the bleeding. I finished my last dose of the provera last week. Does anybody know how long i will bleed for before my body goes back to the menstural cycle. I just moved here and I do not have insurance at the moment to go see a doctor so I am trying to get as much information as possible as to what I can expect

I have just been put on provera cos my period has been irregular. I have menstruated only twice this year. i am trying to conceive so badly, and am just wondering if this medication will hasten or slow down my ability to get pregnant quickly?

I was told I have pcos at the age of 15 i've had irregular cycles from then til now i've had birthcontrol pills after pill and was put on depo for a year and gaind 45 pounds had no cycle I was taken off in april and put on yaz and now iam in pain and the problem has reoccured I i've had test after test and nothing so now iam on prover for 10 days to stop the bleeding of along 3week cycle of horror I just almost wish it was something wrong at least then I could work wit a doctor on gettin it fixed so my question is how long well I bleed before it stops i've been on povera for 5days and I have major hed aches and can barely move my uterus feels as if its bout to fight it's way out.

My gyno prescribed me provera to stop my periods for 3 months till my next appointment after being diagnosed with an ovarian cyst and fibroids. After 3 weeks my period started so I stopped taking them as I was going on holiday the week after and wanted to have my normal period. I started taking them again as soon as my period had finished but 1 week later I started to bleed extremely heavily and was loosing large clots, this bleeding has now lasted 11 days. I took provera for 30 days for heavy menstrual cycles. Every since taking the drug, I have been bleeding excessively for the last 3 months without a break. I started taking birth control to stop the bleeding, but it did not work. So I stopped taking the bc pill because it made the bleeding and cramps worse. PLEASE HELP! Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I have been on provera for 20 days for prolonged bleeding from having my son and getting an i.u.d. inserted. it had been 2 months and i was still bleeding without a break and was proscribed provera. i was on 2.5 for 30 days and by the 20th day i was sick of the side affects (insomnia, depression, etc)
and gave my doc a call... she then told me to stop taking provera and was going to prescribe me an estrogen pill... i havent had time to pick up my pills at the pharmacy. last night was the first night i did not take the pill and all day today i have not had any spotting what so ever... im guessing i would have already stopped bleeding by now and the provera was making me bleed... anyone going through this that is similar? or does anyone think i should go ahead and take the estrogen pills?

In august I had no period, I normally have a 5 day period. I have been having a period every other week since September I went to the doctor on the 10th this month ( November) because I was bleeding for 7 days she prescribe me 10m provera for 7 days to stop the bleeding and to help stop the bleeding every other week. when I took it my bleeding got extremely heavier and I was loosing large clots it has now been 10 days and I see no end in sight I stop taking the provera after 1 day cause of the heavy bleeding I have to get an transvaginal ultrasound to see if I have cysts or fibroids but they will not see me until I stop bleeding. I am very upset and I don't know what to do I don't have the money for constant doctors visits . I called the doctor but he has yet to respond. What do I do. I was also prescribed birth control Aww I suppose to take them together to stop the bleeding.

No this medication does not stop u ovulating and it is extremely dangerous to fall pregnant while taking , u defo need to use another form of contraception xxx

Some of you guys said the doc given url provera to stop bleeding. How can that be cause I was given to strart my period I never had it for a year and 4 months but on provera I got it and its soooo heavy gosh I can't handle it. I don't know wat to do. I feel weak and extremley sick

I was put on Provera 2 years ago for endometriosis after sone polops were removed. I take 30mg a day. I didn't notice any changes and was only slightly spotting. However I have been bleeding quite heavily for the last 8 weeks & it doesn't show any sign of stopping. Does anyone know if this is normal?
