Post prednisone expectations for general health and weight loss

i hate the weight too. more than anything. but i have learned to not talk bad about overweight people. i sleep well though. i eat lots of fruits and veggies and i think it helps. maybe they're placebos

I so related to all these issues. I have an eye condition, one of the "itis's" putting me on prednisone up and down for the past 9 months. 60 mg the highest and now working on weaning - down to 4mg!

As women, we are reared to believe that this is beautiful. I am now at 170 lbs, and like many have NEVER weighed this much in my life. Like others here, I have developed an empathy for overweight people. I always think "maybe that person is on prednisone". I have tried weight watchers, exercise and not much is making a difference because when I wean even at .5 mg every 2-3 weeks, I can barely open a jar because my body hurts so much. Even my fingernails hurt! It takes about a week and a half to get back to normal.

My best to all of you other humped backers out there! I am looking forward to losing weight, even if it takes a while. I am inspired by those of you that are working so hard to get it off.

What just occurred to me is how we are willing to exchange being thin for being out of pain. It is a sad testimony to our values but sooo true.

Its been 2 months since i stopped taking prednisone for a very bad case of poison ivy. I only had to take it for 11 days with a taper at the end but i still havent been able to lose weight. Im 5'5" and weighed 115 lb before taking it. Afterwards i gained 15 lbs and now im 130 lbs. No diet or exercise helps. Im a distance runner training for a 1/2 marathon and not even running20 mi per week plus weight lifting is making a difference on the scale. I cant fit into any pants b/c all the weight has gone to my thighs. It is so so so frustrating. I cant wait 5 more months for everything to get back to normal :(

Hi my name is Mary and I am 11 years old. I have struggled with this medicine because I am young and never thought that I would have to watch my wieght this early. I am on 40mgs a day and I am taking 5 mgs off every week now so only 2 more mounths of this. But I have gained 30 pounds and it's only been like 2 weeks. But I can't stop eating it's too hard I love food now and I figured out that I can't get full no matter how hard I try. My mom doesn't care either how much I eat because she feels bad that I got Colitis and wants me to be able to eat whatever I want. She doesn't undertand how annoying it is I used to be skinny at 75 pounds and now I have stretch marks that really itch, fat layers that I didn't used to have, and a huge face and just evverything. Now I'm about 100 pounds instead of 75 and I just don't know how I'm going to loose this because I thought it would all go away on its self but it's not?!?! I have to work it off? Everyone told me it would just go away and now that I know it's not I just don't get how I'll loose this all. My friends haven't seen me for mouths and they aren't going to want to hang out with me probably. Please help I need advice my mom is already struggleing with this crazy diet thing with my Colitis and I just can't stand to see her like that so I don't want to tell her. HELP!! PLEASE!!

I am kinda conufussed. I am only 14 years old and I have been on prednisone for about 1 1/2 mouths already gaining 30 pounds. I will be off of them in 3 mounths but I can't stand this wieght gain, I'm always hungry but even if I try not to snack too much I still gain like 1 puond every 2 days. And my cheecks are huge! I just want to know in 3 months when I am off the medicine will all this go away on it's own or will I suffer with it and have to diet and ezersize a lot extra?! Please help

I wrote in on Aug 4th complaining about my weight due to prednisone. My heart just goes out to everyone, but especially the children faced with the side effects of this drug. Just want to let everyone know THAT I LOST 20 POUNDS. I started weighing myself just after my Aug 4th post and I was 166.5. Today I was 145.5 - yeah - it can be done. I just went down to 9 mg on Monday and I have been trying to follow the Hallelujah Diet in a book written by George Malkmus - I do not follow this 100% by any means but try to incorporate the spirit of the book along with Bethanny Frankel's new book, Unleash Your Skinny Girl and Free Yourself From a Lifetime of Dieting. She has great tricks. Also, have been on the treadmill and elliptical everyday. Everyone says I look great - my moon face is almost gone as is my second chin, stomach is down considerably. Still have 30 pounds to go but hoping that will get easier as I go down on Prednisone. Good luck to everyone.

Hi everyone. I'm 20 and I have been on prednisone since August 8th starting at 60 mg a day and a while ago I started weening down. Now I am on 25 mg a day and will be on 20 next week, 15 the next week...ect...until I get fully off of them. I gained 30 pounds already and cannot stay out of the kitchen will this weight come off though? I mean it doesn't make sence that it can just come off but that's what my mother says. Can I loose the 30 pounds without trying when i get off this medicine?

Hello everyone! I am Mary and I am 11 years old. My last post was on September 24th. I was totally freaking out about the weight gain I got from this I was always really skinny, 75 pounds was the highest I ever was and I loved being skinny. 4 feet and 8 inches was my height. Then I got diagnosed with Ulsertive Colitis and put on 60 mg daily but I was tamperd down 5 mg and it is my last week this week on prednisone. When I got to 5mg daily I lost 5 pounds in a week I think that was the water though cause my moon face is slowy going down, but I noticed it's not all water and some is fat :( DANG IT!! I THOUGHT I WOULD GET MY NORMAL FACE BACK!! Anyways I shoot up to 105 pounds and have fat everywear, I don't think that I'll ever go to the pool again because my thigs are COVERED with stretch marks everywhere I can't even look at them they're so ugly!!
