Which meds cause hair loss?

Q I am 72 years young, active and do all my own housework. I recently read your letter concerning hair loss after taking medication.

Iam 64 years old and take lisinopril 5mg,and losing my hair. please help what bp meds dont have this side effect. I do not take any other meds

I have seen Quinapril/Accupril (also an ACE inhibitor) widely administered with little abnormal hair loss.

Perhaps a different class of BP med may help.

i take this med, at a higher dose, for many years and have no hair loss, if fact i just donated some of my hair to locks for love. have your dr check your thyroid levels, when my thyroid stopped working, i had a lot of hair loss. after i was started on synthroid, i got my hair back, seems thicker than before. have your dr also check your vitamin levels. some people here in erie, have very low vit D due to our weather. my mom had hair loss when she was younger and her dr said eat more green beans, greens in general, this helped her, but she also had thyroid problems as does my daughter. there are a LOT of people in erie with thyroid problems, scary, huh? good luck solving your problem, but have your thyroid checked.

by the way, my old family dr said my thyroid was fine when i told him about my hair loss and all, when i had a new arthritis dr, they were the ones who discovered my thyroid wasnt working. different dr's read the numbers differently. i was losing hair and very tired.
