Percocet, Acetaminophen/Oxycodone

If 2 Painkillers Are Banned, What Next?

Full story: MedlinePlus

Banning the popular painkillers Percocet and Vicodin, which a U.S. health advisory panel has urged, would not be as drastic as it sounds, some medical experts contend.

One of the problems is that you can't obtain
hydrocodone without something else in the mix.
You can't buy it pure and add asperin or
acetaminophen, or ibuprophine to the degree you
want. This is not true for Percocets for which
you can obtain the oxycodone narcotic in it's
pure form. Acetaminophen does nothing for my pain
at all. It just raises my blood preasure.

Why is Hydrocodne not sold alone any longer?
Why MUST there be NSAID enhancer included? When
what is included may not even be important and
can cause harm? What's that about?

If they ban combinant opioids, they are going to have the change the law regarding hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is just synthetic codeine, anyway. However, this all begs the question of why the FDA is doing this with prescription painkillers, and letting consumers still buy all the acetaminophen they want OTC.
It seems to me that the ban out of fear of aceteminophen is only the cited reason. I believe the ban is aimed straight at hydrocodone. I don't know why, since oxycodone, codeine, and morphine are still available.
One article I read stated that acetaminophen potentiates hydrocodone; I don't know if it is true or not. But still, why not just prescribe separately?
I don't think anything is going to come of this ridiculous advisory. Other advisories on the same subject advocated NOT banning Vicodin or Percocet. Read around the Internet and you will find huge anger and resistance towards a ban. Personally, I am no longer supporting single-payer healthcare because of this. I don't want my health care in the hands of people like this with no other option.

Just because so many jack**** have abused drugs and a relatively small few have ODd, the FDA wants to ruin the rest of our lives. Those of us barely making it without our medicine, yet living functional lives with it.

I have personally tried, and continue to try, every alternative, and take the medicine as a last resort. However, in order to keep working massive overtime and pay into the never-ending hands-out for taxes, I must keep functioning. What do they want --- all of us in wheelchairs and extreme pain, and no relief??

IF anyone posting FOR this in the blogosphere, or the FDA panel members who actually voted for this, were to suffer the kind of pain many of us have, they'd NEVER be for this ban. They have no clue and have no business ramming their fascist restrictions down our throats.

"If it will save one life" and "it's for the children" --- words coming from fascist dictatorships and playbooks.
Give me a break --- man up and take some personal responsibility for your health decisions, and READ the labels and talk to your pharmacist.
