Lack of orgasm

I am on 40 mg of Paxil. I must say it has helped me greatly. However I haven`t had an orgasm since last August. Paxil was prescribed for me in 1997 and the dose was gradually increased. I`m on other meds also . One I`m on is 5 mg of Prednisone, but my Pulmonoligist assured me Pred. is not the problem. Can any one shed some light on this matter?

Most all the newer anti-depressant drugs have what they term "sexual side effects" ... I don't know exactly, but I guess it's because of how they work in the pleasure part of your brain, causing a conflict that doesn't allow you to express yourself sexually ... I'm sorry, I don't even know what I just said!

For a more specific understanding, you might try posting on WebMD's forum to see if any medical expert will reply. They also have loads of good info on their site too. Or you can refer to Paxil's site itself for some info. Good luck!

I have a similar problem but to be honest, it doesn't bother me. I figured the benefits of not being depressed are more than worth the drop in sexual desire. I really don't care about it.

Inability to orgasm and lack of sexual desire are common side effects of Paxil and other SSRI antidepressants.

I have been on Paxil for over a year now and have seen no side effects. In fact my sexual desire has increased. Maybe it's the amount prescribed. I am only on 10mg a day.

I have found that I can have sex for a much longer time with orgasm. Sometimes it can be hard to finally orgasm.

ITA about PAXIL...it works great for my anxiety...but it dulls the crap out of me and my sex drive.
Im on 20mg...and just recently cut down to 10mg and "DAMN" if i wasnt ready to jump my DH all the time. This after a long time w/no O.
it really does suck b/c you start to think "do i chose btwn desire and being comfortable."

but im enjoying just feeling "feeling".

It's not for everyone, but I smoke pot and can have an orgasm. I'm on 40mg of Paxil. I know not everyone is willing to or can even get away with smoking marijuana, but it works for me.

I'm on 30 mg . Could not orgasm at all . Last night I tried smoking cannabis. Easy... You've got to get really stoned though. Inhale it deeply.
