roxycodone vs oxycontin

Oxycontin is a time release form of Oxycodone. If you break or crush the Oxycontin pill your body recieves all of the medicine at one time. Oxycontin is given more for long term chronic pain such as the Fentynal patch. Where Oxycodone is short acting. Oxycodone is great for the breakthrough pain like with the patch. I have been on these meds for 12 years due to Cancer and an amputation. So for the most part. The dosing is equivalant, Just remember that the Oxycontin CR is time release and is usually dosed every 8 -12 hours. I hope I helped.

I am a 28yo male. Married with 2 children. I have been on Narcotic opiods for 12 years. Due to Cancer and a leg amputation. Two things I wish to say. There are plenty of people out there who obtain these meds when they have no need for them other than to abuse. These people are giving it a bad name, and making it difficult on us legit users. The Fentanyl patch is a blessing. I also take oxycodone 15 for the breakthrough. It really hurts me because I feel like people judge me as an addict or a junkie. I take my meds as prescribed. If I could have my leg back, I would never take narcotics again. Is there anyone else who feels the same whay.

i can't say i'm an amputee or have cancer, but i do have real probs thanx to a bad car accident 3 years ago ... i'm 25 w/ 2 young sons and am having to seriously consider getting my spine fused - not a happy prospect for me at my age :( i totally would give up every pill i have (even detox cold turkey) if i could turn back time to before i was injured ... real pain is a bitch and the real patients take their pills to make like bearable - not get high ... i've been a junkie when i was quite a bit younger and i know the diff... now i have to deal with docs at the er acting like i'm trying to "score" when i'm in there for an antibiotic (i have all my pain meds at home - never go to the er for that!!) soooooo, i feel you and best of luck with everything! i hope you have a good doc, b/c honestly if i didn't have the clinic i go to i'd been in bad bad shape - thank God for the REAL docs (mine's an actual harvard anethesiologist who is known nationally - in a good way) who care enough to help proide real relief, keep visit costs low, and take an interest in better their patients life not just writing scripts:)

what is wrong with some of you people.. if you have a legit reason for taking the medicine then what is wrong with taking it. There is no reason to call someone with serious pain a drug addict. Would you rather sit in pain all day long and stay in bed rather then be able to be pain free and able to go to work or school and live a decent life. yes there are some who abuse the drugs and then all of a sudden everyone is classified as a drug abuser.

couple of comments, jackass. adolphomine is not the name of any drug. you 're talking about Dolophine... "actually comes from the German Dolphium. The name derives from the Latin dolor which means "pain" and f?nis which means "end".

hello everyone,
i live in massachusetts(the scared state.) i say this because it seems every doctor here is soo afaraid of pain medication and prescribing proper mg. i have an extremely herniated disc in my lower back and it causes me not to sleep and have extreme amounts of pain in my leg and back. my Dr. only will prescribe me 5mg oxycodone. I have to take 6-8 at a time and end u running out in 3 days. i have had this problem for 1 year and 2 months and he will not increase the mg. i went to 3 different hospitals here and they refused to treat me for the pain. I WOULD LOVE SOME HELP AS TO WHERE I CAN GO, even out of state, WHERE I CAN FIND A DOCTOR THAT WILL PRESCRIBE ME THE PROPER AMOUNTS. I am not looking to get high or abuse the medication, but i cant deal with the pain. if i dont get something done soon, im going to lose my job cause i cant sit still cause of te pain.I sometimes get 30 mg. oxycodone from a friend and it makes all the difference but i cant get it prescribed. SOMENE PLEASE HELP ME!!:(

Dude....roxi's are .87cents each and go for $8-$15 on the street......87cents...that's all...no insurance req'd..... if you need them cheaper than that....well, I don't know what to tell you... also, roxi's are instant release, some oxycodone pills are time release (bound to waxes)---like OC20's,40's,60's, and OC80's.....so roxi's hit hard and fast....oxy's take an hour or so, but last much longer....

My teeneage has been buyer Roxy's at times. I know they snort them. 18yr olds dont listen. How serious is it. I'm worried it will become a problem. Can someone write aan experience about it. Any advise on what to say to him that will make a diff.

Roxycodone is a generic oxycodone, made by the pharmecuetical company Raxby the ones I used to be addicted to were 30 mg blue/round tablets. one side has nothing on it and one side has a slit down the middle. the top slit has an A and the bottom slit has a 215. The gentleman from lake worth yes you live in a area where these are very prodominent so good luck.

You need to get Suboxone. you'll feel like a million bucks and fall fast asleep. or try to find colonidine, a blood pressure med, it helps to kill the cravings for some weird reason. I was up to15 30's a day last year so I feel your pain.

Thanks Dan. I actually just went to a doctor here and he gave me fentanyl patches. they are unbelieveable.. but i still might head down there. i know you can get arrested if you are from out of state and go to FL. looking for a doctor. thats what i heard at least. thanks for the info.

i donno... a couple of people i know went down there and were asking around for doctors and they were arrested... something to do with searching for a Dr. They said that if you called and got an appointment then it was ok but youcant just go down there and look for perks. it doesn t make any sense to me either.

im able to pull off getting meds from 2 different doctors. one doctor gives me 120 percocets, and 60, 20mg oxycontin. The other doctor gives me 90 norcos a month. its so easy to get painkillers anyone can easily do it.

The AMA in 1996 published an article that those people who use narcotics to treat the level of their pain are NOT addicts by definition but people chemically dependant people to live a more normal life. Addicts are those who by definition use a medication to get the high and do not need the medication for pain. As long as you are within the level of medication needed to effectivedly treat your pain you cannot by definition be an addict under the AMA rules. Thus you do not need to worry about being called an addict because you are not one, if you do not misuse medications, even high levels of narcotics to relieve pain.
