Its at the discretion of the pharmacist! Insurance will pay for it anywhere from 3-7 days early! If youre going on a cruise, the pharmacy can get a "vacation" overide approval from the insurance! Call your ins yourself & let them know that youre traveling. If they agree, they will let you know the soonest it can be filled. If they approve it, then call the pharmacy & advise them of the ins approval! If they wont call to verify it, go pick up your rx & take it to another pharmacy! Just make sure using a different pharmacy wont get you into trouble with your doc & contract with him! If going from a CVS to another CVS it should be ok. My ins will pay 7 days early on opana but if the pharmacist doesnt want to fill it, thats his option. Once over a year ago I was going to CA & needed to fill it 6 days early as I was going away for 12 days & 1st CVS was a jerk & the 2nd filled it & it didnt need any approval from the ins. My current doc [of 2 years] writes all rx's at 28 days as he doesnt want you to be completely out while trying to get it filled, sometimes it needs to be ordered! Hope this helps!

The only way u will b able ur script filled early is by the dct requesting a early script refill. W/O that the insurance wont pay b/c its a narcotic. If it wasnt a narcotic most pharm's would fill it w/i 3 dys of the script due date. Bottom line unless the dct gets a over-ride script, or the pharmaist loans u a few witch everyone knows wont happen ur SOL.

I hate to sound like a broken reccord, but I can't say how important this really is.
YOUR REALATIONSHIP WITH YOUR PHARMACIST IS AS IMPORTANT AS WITH YOUR DOCTOR.

I'm guessing the pharmacy hears the "vacation" story alot with ppl trying to refill early. If u really are going on a cruise maybe u could try bringing in some kind of proof to show them. Or show to your dr. and have him call the pharmacy. Just a thought......

It is up to the insurance company and almost all will fill 1-5 days early on any RX. Most times it is up to the pharmacist whether you refil early. Sometimes doctors may write 30day Rx or no early refils, but that hardly ever happens.
I do know that on one non narcotic med I get, the insurance and pharmacy will let me refil 7 days early. They send me an email that I can refil it. On anything like xanax or norco they never send reminders and will let me refil 3 days early. They may let me refil earlier then that but I have never tried.

I have never come across a pharmacy that would fill a schedule II early, regardless of the reason. I have had schedule III filled early (vicodin) I know you state you are going on a cruise, but if you call your doctor for an early fill, he will flag your record regardless. Even if he does ok it, the pharmacist can still say no as they are heavily regulated by the dea. Good luck either way.

by law you can get your meds refilled 3 to 5 days early. I use CVS because they actually ask you to get your meds at least 3 days earrly. if your pharmacy is giving such a hard time go to a new one. I use cvs they are great an know Ive been on these meds for 20 years, I dont abuse them or get them early, I do get them 2/ 3 days filled before running out. hope this helps/ GOD bless. oh some pharmasist just want to control what you are taking an get mad as If they under stand. tyey dont. heck no one should half to stay in any pain. as long as one uses their meds properlly.

See that is why I always say that about your pharmacist. The pharmacist that my wife would get her from would fill whatever the doctor ordered, whenever it was ordered. There were times we would drive into Vegas a day early and my wife would be out of meds and he would give her two days worth, WITHOUT and Rx. Yes it was breaking the letter of the law, but he was a very compassionate man and knew how ill my wife was, so it all depends on your phatmacist.

I have never had a problem with early fills from doc or pharmacy, but I'm always accountable for the extra pills the following month, accept for a day or two. Doc never worries about anything more than 3 days early. Take the 4th weekend coming up, he already said I could fill 4 days early because both of us will be gone.

Aren't pharmacists of today bound by new and stricter laws then, say, 15 - 20 years ago ? And I'd imagine laws vary state to state, slightly

Is the script post dated? If it is then you will have a really hard time filling it as no pharmacist would put his job on the line. If it is not post dated then you could fill it, but your insurance would not cover it until the date their records show you would need a refill. Talk with your insurance, if you can afford to pay the grand do so but first ask your insurance if they would refund the cost. Let them know of your pending cruise.

+Do you actually get refiils on the script for opana ?

You are right. You have to have a new script every month for schedule II

My ins will pay my opana on sat but Walgreens said tues and they did it last month. that being said, tho, the pharmacist today said she wont do it til its due. im hoping I can get it monday so I can go on vacay that much sooner. if she makes me wait til thud ill b pissed. hopefully bert is there cause last month he said store policy is 3 days, no sooner. if I go monday and they remind me its tues ill play dum that I mixed up the days. my ins actually will pay a week earlier and another pharmacy here said monday so I know it can b done. if its tues, monday will b a bad day for me. I hadta throw 5 out so ill have just one on monday and none the other 2 days.
