hi os something I, too, have noticed is that they don't last as long as they used to. Whereas I would not need any for at least four hours, now, like yourself after about one hour the feeling is gone! And like yourself I start counting down, and before I know it...they are not too many to count any more! overseas wrote: hi tg...maybe your tolerance is up...what do you think??? i only feel them for about an hour or so after taking them...then its back to "wondering" about what i have left..my GP doesnt prescribe them for me anymore...i went and saw a drug and alcohol specialist and we worked out a tapering schedule...i was taking between 320-400mg a day when i saw the specialist...my choices were to go on methadone or suboxone or begin reducing {10mg every 20 days}starting at 160 mg a day... i am seriously considering suboxone because i really dont have a grip on this...see ya

Hey TG.. I'm not very far from you..I spend most of my days working in and around T.O. Are you interested in getting off the oxys? Cause I can tell you from experience that if you are just taking them to feed the addiction now..you are facing 2 choices..either bite the bullet and deal with the withdrawls now..or spend thousands of dollars on black market narcotics before finally resigning yourself to the fact that you have to get clean.. I chose the latter..but after a couple weeks feeling moderately shitty..I began to feel good again..and now I wouldn't thank you for a pill.. Titrate your dosage down to 20 mg 2x a day..then once (nite time is good)..then no safety net... If you can survive a bad cold..you can survive the withdrawls.. Good luck..I'll keep you in my thoughts.. :-) Op

i have recently been engulfed in oxy addictions myself, everyone around me is amazed by this drug and how it can "mess you up" but i am noticing my friends are being lost to the drug, and i dont think its anything i did wrong, just a problem with the drug causes them to not want to be social or/and unless they are "high" on this drug, i know people perscribed to the drug and they really need it, but it is up to the people perscribed the drug to keep it to themselves and not spread it through the community

I absolutely do not see anything wrong with using Methadone to withdrawl from oxycontin. You start out about 80mg a day, which will completely eradicate the oxy withdrawl symptoms. Then you slowly reduce the methadone amount, reduce it by say, 2mg every couple weeks. It works fine. The only problem is they usualy require you to physically go to the clinic everyday to get your dose. Sometimes clinics can be far away.

I have had chronic pain pain for over seven years and had been trying meds like ultram and lost of ibuprofen, this was only a temporary fix. My pain had jst worsedned, my whole family noticed the mood changes and the irritibility. So, I finally went to the doc regarding this whole issue. So, long story short, he put me on oxycontin ER 20mg to be taken every 8 - 12 hours. only been on for 24 hrs., im a litle drowsy. Has anyone had a positive experience with true pain relief from using the extented release?

i found this forum by accident looking for ways to ease the ends of withdrawls from this devil disguised as meds......I am soooo glad that i am finally free from oxycontin....it was the worst medicine i have EVER been on.....i was totally dependant on it and even though i despised taking the medicine on my 3 x's per day i was terrified of the withdrawls so i kept taking it since none of my drs could provide me an easy way to get off it...so i decided it was time to do it myself! i threw the pills away and checked myself into a detox center.....for anyone who is listening it was the WORST 4 days of my life and i am currently on day 7 and still feel like death.....I will be doing anything i can to make sure this medicine is not given by any old dr to anyone with pain.....it needs to be heavily regulated!! i have never had any issues with dependancy but after going through detox of this med i will say that every withdrawl story i have ever seen on tv is ACURATE...cold sweats...vomiting....crawling skin...stomach cramps....muscle spasms.... I guess my point is if u have a choice get off this medicine...or you will be on it forever....

DOES THE DETOX YOU ARE IN GIVE YOU ANYTHING TO HELP WITH THE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS. I WAS IN DETOX ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO,(I WENT BACK TO USING), AND WAS GIVEN SOMETHING TO HELP WITH THE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS. ONE DAY AT A TIME. MY WISHES AND HOPES ARE WITH YOU! peace out

My husband and I have been doing oxy for about 5 years. He has gone clean with methodone for the last three months and he is going on liver transplant list next month. I don't have insurance and I am having a hard time getting off of it. There is a methadone clinic in my town, but I work all kinds of hours to support us as his disablity pay not coming until January. Any suggestions? I have cut back.

I write rx's at a pain clinic for a living, everyday. i think there is some good use out of oxycontin, however placed in the wrong hands is a problem. the new drug opana er has been being wrote for patients who may have concerns about methadone or oxycontin. It is stronger i think may help pt's who g=have chronic pain

I think oxycontin can help your pain but it really depands on how severe your pain is. Are lortabs not strong enough? there are many differnt pain killers out there finding the one that is right for you may take some tme. just take your rx as prescribed and it should not be a problem

Craig wrote: Oxy is fun but if ya take it more than 2 days in a row you will feel some withdrawl, i try to only do it on weekends if any. We get the real 40's and 80's all day around my town and the ABG 80's. If your going to chew or snort oxys i suggest do it only in moderation. Hey craig i'm a person that suffers from chronic pain but recently lost my insurance. I was taking 4 20mg tablets a day but now I am not able to get anything due to my insurance. Can you really get them on the street where you live. If so email me at DeanS79@aim.com I would appreciate any help from you.

Dean,
You can switch to Methadone which has analgesic properties that are nearly identical to oxycontin. In fact for most people the side-effects of Methadone are less severe than they are with oxycontin.
Without insurance a month's supply of methadone will only cost you $20-$30.00, perhaps less depending on the area in which you live.
It is cross tolerant with oxycontin, so you will not suffer any withdrawal or pain issues if you switch drugs.
Good luck

If I have been taking 10mg tabs of Oxy 2x a day and I am not really feeling the benefits that takes the pain away, can I increase to taking (2) 10mg tabs of Oxy 2x a day? Or is there a different formula when making the 20mg pills versus the 10mg pills?

Dean,
There are also programs for folks that cannot afford their prescriptions through the companies that manufacture them. You need to contact Perdue Pharma and get the application for free meds through them. Your doctor will have to fill out a portion of it and then send them a script for 12 months supply. They will mail the meds to you each month and you don't have to worry about it. Eric has also given excellent advice with the Methadone. It is a very good medicine and very cheap too.
Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY MEDS ON THE BLACK MARKET!!!! It is not worth going to jail over! You will be prosecuted like a dirtbag and made to look like filth by the media and police because you suffer from chronic pain. Talk to your doctor and work on finding a med that you can afford.
Good Luck, Brian

I have sat back and read just about everyones comments before putting my two cents in. I too am in hell right now. My doctor was scribin 4x80 day oxy for about the last 6 months when all of the sudden he got busted for some shady stuff he was doing. I am in so much pain along with the withdrawls. I have resorted to buying them on the street and am pretty much broke from it. Every other doctor doesnt want to touch me just cause im associated with that dr. Anyone have this situation before and what do i do? Thanks, Lookin for some sleep

Does anyone know of generic oxy 40's that say E705 on one side and 40 on the other side? They're also about twice as big as the other generics I was getting. I mean why are they so much bigger? p.s. sorry to hear about all you guys withdrawl problems. I hope I don't have problems.

Could be the cause of many things but my guess would be that Endo Pharms the manufactuer that makes the E705 uses different fillers or non active ingredients in their formulations. Theorectically there would not be any more oxycodone per say in the Endo's then there would be in the brand name. See Endo can't make their version of Oxycontin exactly like the brand name because of legal reasons and if you dont know by now the legalities have caught up with Endo because they have to stop making there Oxycontin by November 2006 due to lawsuits against them via Purdue Pharma (Original Manufactuers of Oxycontin).
