Assumming her doc knows the baby is breech, Sophie's right & can & has to be turned during delivery but I didn't know this when I talked to my pharmacist friend.

I'm talking to him and my Doc today, please try to remember anything else you haven't mentioned so far. I know it's a lot to process, but the details like these are important.

I understand. Unfortunately my wife is stubborn. She hasn't slept well in about 30 weeks now and she won't take it easy. Still cleans, runs errands, etc. If I go out to do an errand, she'll grab the vacuum and do the rugs. I don't know why since I would do it when I got home but it is the way she is. I am more open minded to meds but I am not the woman with a baby in my stomach so I can't push her. She did get a script but if I was betting on it, I would bet she wouldn't take a perk until the baby is born. Never mind benadryl. LOL. Me, if it is in pill form, I'll take it. But of course I would never harm my child. Seeing a pregnant woman with a ciggerette isn't all that classy.

Andy. I understand your wife's concern about medication while pregnant. Unfortunately with my last son I was on pain medications on and off through the whole pregnancy and some pretty hefty doses at times. My little guy was born with no problems at all, I was even worried about him having withdrawals, but he had none at all. As for long tern effects, he is now a 13 year old eighth grader who is on the honor role and has also taken some college courses through the school and has 5 college credits already! So obviously it did not make him stupid....whih I also worried about.
i personally think it would be better for the baby if your wife pain was under control. We all know that pain increases blood pressure, no sleep, anxiety, exhaustion, etc. all which are not a good thing while pregnant. it is a very personal choice, but just thought i would tell you my experience with it. It sounds like she has talked to her OB about it and he does not object to occasional use at this stage. Whatever she decides, I hope she feels better...sciatia sucks!

I did double check about the sciatica and it starts from the top and goes down the back of her leg. Alot of the pain comes from sleeping in one position. One side when she turns she has trouble breathing and that is not just laying on her back. Any Questions let me know. Thanks again!

I knew a very young girl that was having a baby and her boyfriend was a dud..two women pregnant at the same time..so she asked me to be there for the birth..wound up to be a c section also..and they let me stay in the room...The baby comes out perfect looking...it's amazing...but if it were to be a "normal" birth they would indeed turn the baby as was mentioned by a prior poster..sorry I forgot the s/n...have a great day..S

Thanks sophie. You are right, the baby comes out looking very good. One of our options with my first son was to use a vacuum thing (forget med term) but we said no. Didn't want any skull damage.

Hi HM: I talked to my PM doc who does not accept pregnant patients, has no advise, meds versus risk to baby & mom just isn't an area of his practice - sorry 'bout that but it seems you're getting lots of help from others.

couldnt find this thred, so this has been double posted. thanks sophie:

Lawd, My brain is dead! This is for Hitme. I was reding bout your wife earlier and it kinda rang a bell about something and I did some checking: http://muscleventures.com/video/2007/01/pirif ...
Evidently , when this muscle is messed up, stretched, injured, etc. it irritates the heck outta the sciatica. Imagine a breech could do that. My Son broke my rib, at about 6 months pregnant!
Something else to consider:Therapy for piriformis syndrome :daily stretching, anti inflammatories, and physical therapy. Affected individuals should avoid activities that aggravate their back pain and sciatica. Healing time can be weeks to months

Hope this helps. If the link is a problem its at muscle ventures, piriformis muscle stretch.Even a little relief might help her sleep better. I use three pillows and do a side sleep. One under head, one to suport chin right in front, and one between the kness to keep spine aligned. Melatonin is naturally produced by our bodies, dont know if shed consider. Mystic

Hi Sophie: I replied to your last post but never saw it, my doc is working with me so often & carefully that I've had just 2 'bad days' in the last 6!

Thank you for caring, pain will always be with me & probably everyone on this thread, even though it's Title "Trying to Quit"; should be "Trying to Manage" with or without meds.

Don't understand why 'people' like this most recent use it to sell drugs; but ingoring them should make them go elsewhere.

I also hope you're 'comfortable' and warm wishes to you.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Capricorn

Take things slowly and all will be well. However, you must resist a tendency to be perfectionist over things that don't really matter, otherwise you'll never finish the chores. If you're busy with Christmas preparations, you'll have to control a nagging feeling that you've got to compete with the way other people have done things in the past.
