Those of you who abuse the drug just to get high or just to feel good are the very people who make those in chronic pain suffer because the rules get so tough on medication that can really help.
Seriously, if you have the need to get high, see a doctor, get cleaned up, as hard as it is, do it. You have to find some other way to feel good. Get a good counselor after you've detoxed and try to come to terms with whatever it is eating away at you but don't kill the rest of us or force us to live in agony just because you want to get "high" from the medications that are finally helping us to be able to LIVE. It's not just yourself that you're hurting. It's everybody around you, everybody who NEEDs the medications and you are hurting ME because I'm in chronic pain every day of my life and would love NOT to take the drugs that you so desparately want to get your hands on.
See a doctor, any doctor, ask them to help you detox and get off the drugs, it will save your life.....and mine.

You can't break down the generics, they made them that way so you can't inject them or snort them really.

They put plastic in them so they turn to gel after you snort them. When you crush them up you can see the tiny crystals and try to remove them or don't shoot water up your nose afterwards. Make sure your nose is dry first. Honestly they suck if you like to blow them, but it's better than nothing. But be prepared to be blowing your nose a lot and pulling gel out of it. you'll only get about half as high as if you did a brand OC.

So if a doctor has given me oxycontin 40mg XR (they are an oval shaped yelllow pill) and i crush it up and snort it or eat it, it will make me get high? I used to take percocet 5/325 and those were great. my dr stopped giving them to me for fear of long term damage to my liver (caused by the aspirin) These 40 mg tabs don't do too much for me.

oxy addiction is a huge problem where i live (north nj) i graduated highschool just a few months ago and without a doubt it is our generations coccaine.Me and my friends were snortin oxy powder like it was normal.Now everyones went off to college and work and im left out in the rain with a nasty addiction.If i dont have somthing about an hour after waking up let the withdrawals begin.19 years old and lookin for help from this shit. any suggestions?

You can check with www.pharmer.org but I have never heard of Oxycontin in capsule form, I doubt it.

Mike, I must reply to a part of your post. I disagree when you say that you have to be a drug addict at some level if you have cronic pain. There is a real fine line between "addicted" and "dependant". I am dependant on my Methadone for my cronic pain in my leg but I do not think of myself as a drug addict. If I was shooting or snorting my Methadone tablets then you might be right but I do not do those types of things. I am taking these pills for a reason under a doctors supervision. A drug adict takes his/her drug of choice under no ones supervision. See what I am saying? if you still disagree I really wish that you would take the time to read up on what you are saying. Let the professionals tell you the facts. Okie Dokie

I agree with RonDog 100%..I..struggled with "addicted" vs "dependant" a long time ago...I have leg pain too..My body depends on pain meds to be able to walk..I also depend on accupril for high blood pressure and gilibzide for diabetes..I take all meds as perscribed by Dr..(if i don't, i die)...I don't abuse the pain meds and never run out early..I woke up at 5:am and I have to depend on my meds to be able to walk in about an hour..My issue with pain meds is that I keep building up a tolerance to the oxy's and trying to LEARN if there is a way to detox or cut down so I can get pain relief with a lower dose so I don't have to ask my Dr. for an increase dose at next visit??..That's how I see it.

Ben, What kind of meds are we talking about? Also how many a day do you take usually? I have a few ideas on getting a little detoxed so your regular dose will work better for you. I just need to know the amounts that you take on a daily basis. here to help my man and lets get you fixed up so you dont have to ask your doctor for MORE. I know all about the doctor asking part and it stinks. Sometimes the doc is cool and sometimes he is a real arsehole about it. Let me know
