my opinion yes only with oxycodone 40mg you should have immediate release of the drug, as with oxy 40mg that is time released over certain period. the 1st would be used for "acute" short term or breakthrough pain while the 2nd (oxy) would be used for longterm pain. FYI this is my opinion from literature i have read anyone feel free to correct anything if i am wrong...

*If* the `full'`stated name' is something like Oxycodone HCL CR 40mg Tablet by WATSO or Oxycodone HCL SA 40mg Tablet by IVAX then is *may* be possible that it's a `generic' form or OXYContin. Elmo, your right....I have been crushing the 30mg 40mg and the 80mg tabs and putting them in a spoon, and then drawing up the liquid in a syringe, tnen injecting the stuff into my vains for over a year now and I am hooked big time. I know at some point I will have to withdrawl, but as long as my physician continues to write for the drug I will continue to shoot the stuff up. I am a firm believer that the physicians are responsible for "the making of hundreds of thousands, of rx addicts like myself". I do not steal, rob, or commit crimes to get money buy the drugs, nor do I share needles or use the same needle twice, I buy them over the counter, just like everyone else. I jhave a full time job, pay my bills and rent on time. Basically I am just like your average American, the guy next door. I harm no one. Other than my habit, I am normal.
Currently I have no motivation to quit using at this point. But this could change at any time, but untill that happens I will use my drug and nod out scratch my face, and slobber all over my self in a stooper, just like the next dope fiend. I just love the feelings that the oxy's afford. I know that the 60's band "Velvet Undergroung" had it right in composing the song Heroin, "when I put a spike into my vain, and I am rushing on my run I feel just like Jesus' son." I understand your love for the drug and I to myself love oxycontin well atleast the the power it has to relieve pain. The most dangerous thing a person could do concerning OC's are to shoot them up. This is a reciepe for disaster and is slowly killing you. You see when injected the pill has almost 100 percent freebase (oxycodone) and the rest a mere 2-6 percent is fillers and other material that could be fatal to your lungs. Good Luck and God Bless!

When you inject oxycodone or oxycontin you are only putting 30 or 40 mg's of oxycodone into your body. The rest of the product is filler, mostly in the form of Talc powder, the same stuff that is used for babies to keep them dry, etc.

This is literally a type of stone, that is mined from the ground and then crushed into a fine powder, it is similiar to chalk, which is also a very fine stone. When injected it is impossible for your body to metabolize this compound. It is never broken down, and becomes lodged in the capillaries and veins that run throughout your lungs. Unlike many products that are inhaled, such as dust, etc, talc and other products that you are injecting are never removed from your blood system. They will literally be there until the day you die, which literally could be the next time you inject.

This causes major damage to your lungs. It is the primary killer of those that inject pills meant for oral consumption. Once your vessels become blocked the blood that normally would flow through the blocked area will clot. This clot will eventually break off and head straight to your heart.

You will suffer a heart-attack, if you have not already suffered from a minor one (the oxycodone you are injecting can literally mask the symptoms of a minor heart-attack), and YOU WILL DIE.

If you must: taking oxycontin by any other method is safer than taking oxycontin via injection.

I would advise you to seek help and immediate medical attention, before you suffer from what will be a VERY painful death.

If you don't get help for yourself, do it for those that will miss you when you're gone.

There are other drugs, if you must, but injecting oxycontin will kill you, and MUCH, MUCH quicker than you're thinking. We are talking about weeks and months of use here, years, or even half-years. You are living on borrowed time my friend.

Eric, I was injecting OC for about the last 3 months and recently go clean. You seem to be very knowledgable and I was wondering what I can do to make sure I have not fatally damaged myself? How can I know if i am now OK or damaged? If i am now clean will I be okay since I have stopped using?

My best advice, stop living just to get well. Took me nearly a year, but I got there and will never go back. Hardest thing I ever did. Not saying I never touch "the things" at all anymore, but screw that everyday bull. Life is way too short to spend it searching. You all know what I mean. Please, please don't think I am being preachy, cause I'm not. Think about them every day. well i can somewhat relate but ya see i been on the drug for 11yrs and i only take it by mouth i would never try anything elts i have been struggling to get off the drug for yrs and i will not give up on myself iam a mom of 3 and my life is important to me and i also suffer from severe pain in my back even the surgry did not help but i believe you do not need a narcotic to help pain iam addicted and wish to get off the drug someday i will succeed in my goals best of luck to all lewy
