Yes i am afraid to tell you that yes the withdrawl could kill you. It all depends on how much oxy you r using and your system. It could cause a massive heart attack. So cold turkey is definately not the answer. you need a doctors help to get off these things. I mean this dosent mean everyone but Who will be willing to take the chance.
Do a search in your area for docs who are certified to prescribe SUBOXONE. It is a miracle drug to 95% avoid any withdrawal symptoms. I was taking about 5 oxy 80's a day for 3 years. I went the "suboxone" route and never turned back. Plus, it helps with pain as well. Just look into it so u don't have to suffer. I'm new on here and just trying to help.

<quoted text>Hi jules and HITME , I must say, your advise was right on..I dint realize how anxious i was, but you guys could see it more from the outside.
I went on suboxone last week, and although it does little for pain, it has given me the time to reflect on my experience and see the errors in my quest for pain and sickness releif...the constant withdrawals from not receiving propper medical treatment had warped my sence of acceptable behaviour regerding my dependence or addiction to pain medication.
I have withdrawn from the chemo for now, and as i heal from the horrors of the up and down and running out of meds....I was in such a hurry to find a doctor to treat my pain, and there was too much pressure involved with that.
I had used two drs at the same time, and still got minimal releif. as the story goes, the pharmacy alerted my drs, and that record was following me everywhere i went to seek help.
now as i stated, i can take a more realistic approach to finding a dr to meet my medical conditions before i need to be treated for a withdrawal affliction...frigging withdrawals were mentally tearing me down, and i was showing constsnt desperation to the physicians i had gone to see, and no one would touch me...i was being turned away before anyone even looked at my records, I felt like i was being ostrasized, and looking back, i was.
now i feel like i can find a prime care dr and focus on my disease...hopefully if i need to be treated for pain that i will be treated as a genuine person, not a junkie...thanks for your help guys, it was invaluable...ill keep you posted on developements, im curious if i will ever be prescribed pain medicine ever again, seems like i have that black mark ive heard about...I sure hope not, because although i hated what the pain medicine did to me, what it turned me into, but i just cant see the drs leaving compassion out of my equation..either way the outcome is detirmined, at least for now, im not sick...this suboxone is incredible for getting a respite! thanks again, zen
GREAT WORK!

I am glad thaty you were finally able to find your middle point. Suboxone is a great drug to make you really put things in perspective after being on a long road with pain meds. I myself from time to time go off and take subs as a release to it and use it for a kind of reminder to keep me flying straight when i really start using up my pain meds. After that my tolerance is down again and i am level once more. It's kind of crazy i know but for me it works and thats all that matters.

With your chemo i wish you all the luck to get your health back. I don't think i will ever elect chemo if i'm found to have cancer because it only seems to accelerate an end to people and i don't think the hell involved with it is really worth it because you eventually wind up in the same place. Zen listen to Jules and Hitme too they have tons of great advice. They care and won't judge you. Good luck and i am here for advice too if need be as i have experience with both Sub and Hardcore pain meds. Not proud to say but i've been up into the 800mg a day Oxy habit and subs really do a lot of good to kick that beast in the ass per sey. LoL

Hey Kate, there is a lot of good advice listed on this site. You have to go back a few pages and look for the threads with a lot of responces. If you can afford it suboxone is a very good therapy to get into for treatment.

If not you can read through the threads and learn about tapering. The most effective things to use during your de-tox are Immodioum Ad, colondine, and various amino acids and vitamins.

Go back and read through this site and you will find loads of good information....If you want some additional advice let me know and I can help you, I would need more specific information about your drug usage etc. though...otherwise good luck to you ...P

Well a month or so has passed since going on the fentanal 50mcg patch. I was on 120 mg of oxycoton a day. I have had 5 spinal surgeries since 04, my last one was Sept 30, 09. My orthopedic surgeon wants to control my pain meds, my gp was the administrator prior. So my surgeon wants to take me off all narcotics to evaluate my pain level. he prescribed the fentanal I've gone thru a month on the 50's and I have 2 more of the 25's before moving down to 12's. I must admit that I have minimal pain, nothing debilitating like I thought would happen.
I find no withdrawel sympyoms during the day except for a runny nose but at nite and trying to go to sleep I feel like my skin is crawling and I have a need to keep stretching my body. So I get up and take a 10 loratab. Then I can get to sleep. I wonder what will happen with the 12's.

Be careful of the amount of tylenol (in loratab) you take.

The 10mg loratab I take has 325mg tylenol in it which I thought was minimal.

I'm not sure what the guidelines are now. There has been some talk of removing tylenol from narcotic drugs altogether. Better 325 than 500.
