I got a prescription for suboxone about a year ago to stop oxycontin. It works! No Withdrawl or sickness at all! Had to go back on oxys because of my pain problem. It's good to know the suboxone is there if I need it.

I was diagnosed with a severe herniated disc in June 2006. I had 3 epidurals, went through PT, then finally had surgery on 2/5/07. I am still in severe pain, yet my pain mgmt doc is very conservative on the pain meds. I've explained that I don't get high from them, but I'm a single mother that cannot even sweep the floor without pain. He prescribes 5/325 percocet for me, but it doesn't work anymore. When I run out of the script, he has a hard time giving me more meds. I can't function anymore. Anyone have any ideas? Please help!

If the dr isnt treating the pain, find one who will.... if he is short changing your medical needs, undertreating pain! isnt that malpractice? if he wont write a pain med to ease your issue, he should stop treating you....id call a new dr and a lawyer!

I have been using oxy's for almost 2 yrs. I find 160 mgs per day along with 2 10-325 percs does the jobs very well. What I have noticed is my body jerks and I get muscle twinges. I would like to know if any one else has this going on.

I was on oxycontin 40mg 2/24 plus oxycodone 5 mg for break through pain. After only a couple of months on this drug I started jerking when I first fell asleep, my whole body would jump. I had so much anxiety from this I had to stop taking it. The jerking stopped about two nights later.

I need to add however that I was also taking Cymbalta and Lyrica for pain. I always blaimed it on the Lyrica because it had a strange effect on my sleep. I stopped taking all of them for about 5 months and then started back on oxycodone 5mg 3/24 and have had no problems.

The thing you need to be sure of Irish is that the pain is what you are taking the meds for and not also the high you feel. Don't take this personally it happens to most people taking these drugs.

I also am taking 5 mg oxycodone 3/24, I have been on much stronger doses in the past so I do have some experience with these drugs. When I first started taking them a couple of years ago I always thought that when the euphoric feeling was gone the medicine wasn't working so I would take more than prescrbed trying to keep that good feeling, well that's wrong. These meds relieve pain well after that happy feeling has disappeared, you just need to be sure you give them time to work.

I have found that sometimes I need to take 2 x 5mg within a couple of hours of each other to get the pain relief I need for several hours, and sometimes only one pill works. Try to find what works for you within your script limits. Don't consider the short euphoriea as your judging point or you will be taking them every 2 hours, plus you'll be in deep crap before you know it...these drugs can be very addictive.

If you are certain in your mind that you need a stronger dose or a more frequent dose tell your doctor so, if he refuses ask him to make you an appointment with a pain managment doctor, but beware, pain managment when mishandled can lead to nasty problems. Please...give all this thought before you take your next step.

Percocet is a combination of oxycodone and acetaminophen (Tylonol). Oxycontin is timed release Oxycodone. So...I would say yes the oxycontin will show up in tests.

Cheryl,

If you get these drugs without a script and you are caught with them you'll go to jail. Do yourself a favor, if you need them for pain see a doctor, if you don't need them then smoke pot and buy it only in small amounts...less than a half ounce. I think in most states pot in small amounts, 1/2 ounce or less, is a misdemeanor.

I just read your post, If you read my latest one you see i am having this situation. So you have gone back and forth, I want to cut my tolerence so i dont need to use as much oxy to manage my pain. I have gone back and forth twice already jus was wondering if after doing that multiple times it stops working and also, i would like to detox with subs only for a short time, enough to get my tolerence way low again to amange pain with as little of oxy as possible, even say 5mg percocets( that would be ideal). Yeh smoke some buddah if you are not actually in pain, or lie to a doctor about pain and get your ass hooked on opiates. fake scripts dont work, in this city.!!!

Multiple switching from subs to pills i cant speak upon, but if you take a break from doing pills(NO SUBS), like even a week then start again it does affect me a lot more. Could be dangerous for some people. But when i find my pain is bearable without pills then I take a break, take it easy for a week, smoke some pot, drink some beers and relax(No heavy lifting etc.) It is a gradual minimization of dosage needs. I am prescribed 3 20mg OC's daily which would not even affect me if it werent for "pill pauses" every month or so.

The nauseousness will go away if you cut down your dosage, you must be taking a handful of percs to get stopped up by them. Usually that doesn't start until you are on up there in the mg. department on a daily schedule. If you are sick, that is a little too many per day.

Another factor in the constipation arena can be other drugs a person is taking. I'm on Imipramine and low dose of Ativan, both slow down the body.

A person has to keep on their drugs in mind, and the food that you eat.

Oxycodone ER is the same as oxycontin. I've had some experience with it and yes it is true about the way the dose works.

The oxycodone is mixed with a type of wax so that it desolves slowly and the dose is absorbed over time. The ones I had, 40 mg, could be broken into pieces and they would still give a released dose, I wouldn't chew them though.

They work very well and should help if you need extended pain relief. They will cause constipation, so be prepared for that, prune juice, dried fruit, fiber...
