again people, if you are paying for drugs, any drugs, out of pocket... here is the site to save $$! it is free to anyone, they list all local pharms(members) in your zipcode, just fill it out,print and save ea time you refill... remember, they are an advertisement company, so your info is available to them to do as they choose after (resellthe pharm is obligated to tell them whatever they have on you, your "right to privacy" is no longer respected, but the discounts are substancial.if you are dirty and "double DR" to get more meds, you will get caught using this site for both.... oxy 80s 4.75 per pill (60 for 270.00) roxy 30s ($.50 ea)(90 for 45.00)as opposed to 9.00 ea(80s_60 for $540.00) and 1.40 ea(30s_ 90 for 126.00)

I would like to know how the time-release mechanism in oxycontin works. The outer coating is obviously not the method, for it dissolves in the stomach and intestines. So it has to be in the granules. Crushing the tablet would crush the granules.
My reasoning is that if one desires say 10mg of drug and cuts a 20mg in half and chews the half, one gets the same as a 10mg percocet. In 30 minutes you are getting 10mg of relief. And it would last 3-4 hours. There is no magic in sustained release, other than it supposedly dissolves over 12 hours. But if you need 20mg. at once you have to take four 20mg. tablets at once, and then you would have 20mg. worth of relief over a 12 hr. period.

Thoughts?

THERE IS NO WAY TO GET THE SAME DOSE FROM A CR AS A I/R PILL, THEY STATE TO JUDGE IT AT 1/2 STRENGTH, SO IF YOU WERE ON 20MG OF I/R OXYCODONE. then take a 40mg cr for the same effects... but its use will be 8-12hrs as opposed to 3-4hrs, cutting the pill doesnt eliminate its t/r effect, the outer coat only enables the initial dose to begin quicker, actually releasing 15% of the med by cleaning off the coating, but the composition inside is covered in outerlayers releasing small increments at a time.... if its crushed and taken, you will get hit immediatly but 4hrs later get another surge so its still t/r but not at the same rate....simply put, theres no magic way to make it i/r med unless injected, and I have friends who swear it surges again in 4hrs when shot, stating its still doing some form of t/r ... i/r meds dont do that ever... its all right now!!! when its done, its done....

My problem is that the kind of nerve damage I have only affects me when I am standing, sitting, or walking. I sleep fine (thank God) and don't want to be medicated around the clock. But my PM doctor doesn't agree with starting medication in the morning and ending it when I get home in the evening. He keeps giving me things like fentanyl patches and oxyconting. But I don't want to have a 24hr. medication thing going. My thought is that I don't want any more medication in my body than I absolutely require.
20mg of oxycodone currently gets me by, so according to your information I should probably take a 20 at 10am and another at about 1 pm, then be done for the day. The release does not last 12 hours, as touted. It may be good for 8, but really only about 6. So maybe that will work for me.

I would go on a small dose of fentnyl 24hrs a day, and use I/R meds during the bad hrs... in higher doses, that way its a low dose 24hrs a day and youll be fine, if you take only when needed(day time,) youll be having rough nights w/d during your 6-8hrs sleep... thats hell on the body, youll need a 24hr med (low dose med)working and a b/t med in high doses... normally it would be a high 24hr dose and a low b/t dose, i would just reverse it.... If I was on the 100 patch and a couple roxis B/T I would use the 50patches and double up on the b/t instead, so sleep is good and you have what is needed during the day
