Has anyone had any experience with Talwins or Temgesic? If so, how does it compare to Oxycontin and Hydrocodone for pain management? Any and all information would be appreciated!

If I have been taking 10mg tabs of Oxy 2x a day and I am not really feeling the benefits that takes the pain away, can I increase to taking (2) 10mg tabs of Oxy 2x a day? Or is there a different formula when making the 20mg pills versus the 10mg pills?

Well I'm not a Doctor or anything but I do know that 5mg of Oxy is equal to one percocet. So, I would say that the 20mg would be like taking 4 percocets. And I believe it is the weakest mg of percocet that they are talking about.I know that they have 10/650 percocets, thats = to 10mg Oxy, I would think. I will have to do some more research on that.If anyone else knows, jump right in. If I remember right www.streetdrugs.com may have some info on this. But hell I have been to hundreds of sites.

Take Care, I hope that this helps!

If you were to increase to taking (2) 10mg Oxycontin tablets twice daily then the logical dosaging would be just to switch to the 20mg Oxycontin tablets and take them twice daily.

10mg-80mg Oxycontin was made for only twice daily (12hr b.i.d.) but in some instances Doctors prescribe their patients either the 10mg-80mg Oxycontin tablets and tell them to take more than 2 a day sometimes at the same time or throughout the day for example: take 1 tablet 3x per day or take 2 tablets twice daily it all depends on the doctor and the patient of course.

Oxycodone is Oxycontin and the other way aroung is true also, we all know this but for some patients Oxycodone without tylenol may help them better and they may get better relief from Oxycontin instead of percocet per say (by the way percocet comes in 5mg/325mg, 5mg/500mg, 7.5mg/325mg, 7.5mg/500mg, 10mg/325mg & 10mg/650mg)

Another dosaging option would be to continue taking your 10mg tablets twice daily and use some sort of breakthrough medication for you pain that breaks through inbetween your oxycontin dosage, usually doctors would prescribe some percocet in your situation but I've been told to take some excedrin for the breakthrough episodes which I though was pretty silly (OPINION), or maybe hydrocodone might be better for your BT pain. Anyhow good luck and God Bless and please feel free to ask anything else :-)

10mg of Hydrocodone is equal to 6.67mg of Oxycodone. So it really wouldn't compare to Oxycontin beacause the lowest tablet of Oxycontin is 10mg. Maybe 2 10/500mg Hydrocodone tablets would at the closet compare to a 10mg Oxycontin tablet. See Oxycodone is aprox... 1.5x stronget than Hydrocodone.

I'm told they're basically the same sort of thing-temgesic is very nice. But possibly addictive but it's admitted that it has benefits for people suffering manic depression and psychotic depression in that it takes your cares away. It's a pity no doctor is authorized to dispense it for depression. I accept what someone said that taking such a drug can make you a better person and if you're suffering from depression will elevate your life experience. On the otherhand if oyu avoid it then you avoid acquiring a likely drug habit, so it depends how bad you feel your life is without drugs.

Temgesic is a good painkiller I have been using it with Tramadol and codiene in the morning (use it under the tongue,I have been snorting it -just a habit as I used to snort Oxycontin tabs I ground to a powder).
Hydrocodone,12.5mg very good + Tramadol and codiene in the afternoon, use valium,or any sedative to sleep and occasionally barbs.
The idea is I need pain relief but I am trying to avoid severe addiction.
I have tried it all and was using oxycotin for 2 years and it was a 24 hr deal had to take a 20mg tab EVERY three hours!!
My doctor tried to get me off it using methadone which doesnt work as they are chemically different so at one point I was addicted to both. Methadone is to me useless.
A good painkiller they just make u sleep if I did not need them for pain I would not waste my time.
And beware Oxy its a bitch to get off took me 2 weeks with no help just weaning myself off with stomach pains all the way.
Why cause the pills were running my life.
with them.

I hope all of you get the relief you need for your pain. On the other hand trying to get off oxycontin and lortab (hydrocondone) is the hardest thing I have ever gone through in my entire life. Just do a search on oxy addiction or oxy withdrawals and listen to the stories. Don't think it can't happen to you because it will I was taking 40 mg a day oxy and I got so sick even with a taper to get off of them, and don't even get me started with how long it took my head and body to feel normal again. I look back and I would live through all my back pain 2 fold just to have not started taking these damn pills. I hope I can save a least on of you from this horrible stuff.

Sincerely
Josh

The only reason to use methadone for pain treatment is the cost factor, its the cheapest of all opiates It is one thing if youll be on it looooooooooong term, but know this, the withdrawls, same as all pain meds are a much longer process, this is a reason why I would prefer other forms of pain mgmt, if you are insured ther is no reason to not go with duragesic or opana for long term mgmt of pain, duragesic is a patch worn and changed every 2-3 days no pills to pop and the break thru meds are also available in a non-pill form.... its an expensive version of pain mgmt but easy to detox from and very good at taking the pain to a minimum....

I'm on 80mg of oxycontin 3 times daily with roxy 30mg for break through and i know i'm already addicted, but if i don't take my meds i literally can't walk. Well my question is does anybody know anything about opana? what would be a good drug to ask my doctor about switching to?

First WAA, are you worried about addiction or dependance, they are two different things.

Addiction is what people are when they take drugs for the reasons of getting high, craving that high, and not taking the drug as the script is written because they need the high feeling. Or, anyone who takes a drug for the euphoric effect they get and they just can't stop taking it.

Dependant is what happens to a person's body chemically and physically because they use a drug for a medical purpose or because they abuse it.

Addiction is psychological, dependance is physical.

If you are taking 3/80 mg oxycontin/24, my guess is that "yes" you are dependant already, which means if you stop you'll be very sick for a while. If you are under a doctors care and you are sticking to your script, then I wouldn't worry about being dependant, you can be weaned off slowly when the time is right. Addiction however is another story.

Opana, probably will be no better than what you are on, maybe stronger...more addiction and dependance.
