Since some folks on here have suffered the loss of old, faithful friends recently. And some have just gotten new puppies, etc... I was thinking that maybe we could have a thread where we could share stories, favorite memories: the different pets we may have hopes of one day owning. Just anything pertaining to our sweet pets.

My little Mini Pin went off for a 3 day adventure once. One of the kids had accidentally left the gate open. We were heart broken... We live in an busy area and we just knew we were going to be locating her little body. She's a survivor tho...
For 3 days I searched... On day 3, I was making a loopity loop thru our neighborhood and something told me to make a quick drive thru the local Health Dept parking lot. When I got all the way in, I caught sight of a teeny black streak, out of the corner of my vision. There was Boo Boo, in all her glory. She'd decided to do the responsible thing and get on some birth control, before her next adventure.

She'd lost quite a bot of weight, she was dirty as a piglet. But, we celebrated that night and she got her own little plate of what we ate for dinner that night.

My favorite thing about any animal, especially a dog, is their nose. Such a cool little spot, most times they are round and black. A hedgehog has a really cute little nose too. It's almost a separate little moving part.

I'd love to own a true, Miniature Pot-Bellied pig. And pick the runt of the litter so it would stay little, longer. Maybe need some bottle feeding... I'd want a girl, so I could put her in a lil' dress. I'd also love to own a ferret! They are a riot, mischievous, and really loving! I'd love a McCaw Bird too... but they live so long. It's a great thing if you get one when you are both young. But, I'd worry about traumatizing an animal if I had to worry about finding a suitable home for it after I died.

Anyone care to share some stuff about animals?

Have a great day!

Love my dog! The bast ard is as human as you or me, but without the common human defects of character present in most of us. Well, with the exception of one- my dog is a pill addict. He enjoys the little blue devils just as much as I do, and with a tolerance that's through the roof. Lol just the other day he slipped into my script and downed 6 of those bad boys. I just sat and watched in amazement as he chopped each pill and scrupulously laid out his lines. Then, he proceeded to take in every particle off the table. I thought to myself, "what a beast!" And if you didn't already know dogs have a very acute sense of smell and this sensitivity applies to oxy taken intranasaly. So the friggin animal went on a rampage, tearing through the house, attempting to snort anything that would fit up his flared nostrils because all he could smell was oxy. This continued for about 15 min until he was inundated by the surge of oxy coursing through his vains. He then simply laid in his bed and began to peacefully nod.

Not cool letting your dog at the blues.Dogs and cats have very sensitive systems that a extreme little bit of something could kill them.I know you love your dog.Just think how you would feel if it died because of that incident.
Our animals are beyond anything we can explain. They loves us unconditionally. They all have their own personalities and quirks. One thing for sure they will always be faithful and protective.
My wife is a Veterinarian Tech.o you can imagine how many cats and dogs we have adopted over the years,we have a very small house, but that5s OK we are pretty neat people so our house is never hairy or the cat box smell ever.Right now we are down to one and one.The dog was going to be euthanized in Tennessee.Somebody from up here brought it back to where my wife works and that night I got the"cant we just bring it home for the weekend"That was a 1 1/2 ago.She is a Tree Walking Coon Hound.Sweet as could be.Mid size short hair white with a big round black spot on her back.We got her one week after I had to put down my 14 year old black lab.He was mt boy.Great dog.I'll never forget her!~
When my wife went into that field she was so excited about helping animals. The bad side is the putting them down. When they are in that much pain it is selfish to not put them out of their pain.
Finish off by saying animals are so much better than people!

I think what DownWitOTown was doing, was making fun of my thread. Maybe the concept that someone he perceives as a low life POS, could actually love, take joy from or give undivided attention to anything other than drugs.

So, wasscammedalso, your warning was caring and correct. But, DWOT's dog didn't get hold of any pills, he was just being a smart azz. When a person judge the outside of others, by the inside of THEM, it's still a dead give away. DWOT may not be what he considers to be a POS, low life drug dealer, junkie, scammer, etc...(it's late, but I was trying to remember some of his responses lately). But, he's still not on as high a spiritual plain as he might like to think. It's evident 2 ME (I can only speak 4 myself) by posts like his, on this pet thread, that if DWOT is a model citizen and my example of what a NON-POS, NON low-life drug dealing, NON scamming, NON junkie and whatever else I've left out, I'm still better off. But, that's just me... Someone else may really enjoy his fantasy of his Darwinian dog, with opposable dewclaw, opening up his prescription bottle and snorting overdose lines of Roxi.

So, I also had a really cool little Flying Squirrel. Out Cat had him in his mouth and I chased her down. He was an amazing pet. We've had several of the baby gray squirrels, raised them up and then reintroduced them back into the wild. But, only one Flying Squirrel.

Yes Roxanna, you are correct; I have had a bit of fun at this threads expense, but I in no way, shape or form have passed judgment on you. To assume so is presumptuous in itself. Ok, that last sentence waa a bit judgmental, but I will proceed no further than that point. It is wrong, immature, and unfair to judge another's character or intentions solely based on information extracted from this forum, or anywhere else really. In truth, only God is qualified to judge one's heart. Also, you claim to be "better off" than I and you have reached a higher "spiritual plane" than I have. Well, that may be true, but I fail to understand your method of analysis and deductive reasoning. Heck! I'm having a difficult time identifying what constitutes "better off". I've always thought that the grateful man was better off and that the man reduced to inaccurate comparisons and judgements to be trapped in his own bitterness. However, that's not to say the bitter man is worse off than anyone else, but rather he hasn't taken the time to assess himself and make changes accordingly. In my eyes, the man that is honest with himself regarding his own vile nature is, and will always be, the better man. As for spirituality, that too has no place for comparisons as both terms are in contradiction with one another.

Also I meant to add, I meant no offense or disrespect to you Roxanna. I was simply joking around as I have done on other threads. I do respect your love and compassion for your animals and please don't perceive my bit of joking around to imply otherwise. I too can relate with your love, as I have a dear pet also. So, I apologize for any misunderstanding and for my lack of initial sensitivity.

It is heartbreaking when a pet is lost. Many years ago (when I had the energy and physical strength for such things) I raised red wolf/siberian husky hybrids. I foolishly let this guy I knew take my male wolf to the park while I was working and the idiot ended up getting drunk and lost him! My wolf was missing for two weeks and I had given up on finding him. He had been driven to the park and had never been in that area before. I searched the area daily driving and walking. I put up flyers, asked door to door, checked all animal control facilities daily with no results. One night after he had been gone fir two weeks I was watching tv and the front door (which never latched properly) flew open and in he bounded! He was filthy and stunk of garbage but he wasn't injured in any way and hadn't really even lost any weight. I will never understand how he found his way back. Animals can
be amazing!

Cool idea for a thread Rox! Hope it keeps going. I have lots of pet stories and would love to read others. Delilah is whining now tho. she is awake from her nap and demanding to be removed from her playpen so gotta go!

Do cat stories count?
My German Shepard's left us, sadly enough. One died of old age, and the other one (Blondie) was given to relatives out of necessity because we couldn't keep her where we live.(Inner city ordinance & other factors)
So, we're stuck with a nice blonde kitty...

I really miss Wolf & Blondie!!!!

One of the brothers I used to ride Harley's with had a German Shepard mix (I can't recall what with)

And it was old and dying, used to wince and moan with pain. He used to split OC 80s and give it to him, and it seemed to help - like the poster above said, I didn't think it was cool, but it definitely relieved the animals suffering, and it lived for years ....

OMG My little Delilah has turned into a chewing machine! She bites everything ... including me. She loves to bite on my fingers. She climbs up on my shoulder when I'm on the couch and bites my head! She is going to think her name is really "No-Delilah-No-Bite" Since that is what she hears constantly. She is really smart tho and seems to understand as she does stop when told ... momentarily anyway. She has a short attention span....

I had a jersey cow when I had my farm. Her name was Betsy and she really had a great personality. She had huge beautiful brown eyes and hung out with the horses. I do miss my farm but just couldn't physically do it anymore. Cutting wood, tending to livestock, fencing, gardens, hauling water, etc was a wonderful experience but I gotta admit ... I love my thermostat. Living off the land has many positive points but can be physically taxing. I most miss the spring foals and working with them. Watching a newborn foal stand up for the first time and take their first steps is, to me, a breathtaking sight.

We had a wonderful German Shepherd who we lost a few years ago and I miss him every single day. We have a Shiloh Shepherd now who's 103lbs at 10 months old, and quite possibly the clumsiest dog you will ever meet. In the morning he's so excited to go outside he runs across my kitchen floor and than his feed go flying out from under him and he slides all over (yesterday he slammed into an art easel and it fell on him and he was like ruh-roh!) We also have a Pitbull who's very much a sweetiepie and a fat lazy old man dog who's idea of a good time is sleeping and gettin' belly rubs. He's a pain because he figured out how to OPEN my pantry door, and he will go in and rip open the most random things (baking soda anyone?)
We have cats as well but since we have a farm they are mousers and spend a lot of time outside. They are all snuggly with good personalities though so we lucked out...and my DREAM is to own a miniature Jersey cow!

Nice thread Rox! I too have a min pin and have talked about wanting a mini pot bellied pig! They say that they are as smart as a 3 year old....pretty amazing. Maybe when I'm older and the kids have moved out. Anyways, nice thread!

My pets name is buttmuffin and it loves attention. It really enjoys large, smooth objects inserted into it's soft underbelly. It loves the taste of justice, that is, the ejaculated justice of the loins. Give me freedom or give me sexual slavery.
