NOw i think im in trouble-Im finding it real hard to stop taking these things as long as I have them. Im probably going to wind up taking them til I run out which wont be for amonth or more -then the fun begins-Any advice? What kind of hell will I go through w/d'ing from the Suboxones-Thanks! |

5 Secondly, a Doctor cannot get YOU addicted. Addiction is a psychological event and the only one who controls your actions is YOU. A Doctor can prescribe you opiates that you can become dependent on. Most chronic pain patients on opiates will become dependent on them. All that means is that if the meds are abruptly stopped, you will suffer withdrawal. But Withdrawal does NOT mean addiction. Addiction is when you take more than you are instructed to. Addiction is when you Doctor shop or buy more meds on the street. Addiction is when you take the meds for non-pain relief reasons. A Doctor cannot make you take your meds for the wrong reasons. A Doctor cannot make you Doctor shop. A Doctor cannot make you addicted. That cxredit goes entirely to YOU and YOU alone, bud. Until you take full responsibility, you probably will not be able to stop. |

1 It simply depends upon how long you take the subs. If taken over a short period of time (one week =/-) you'll probably not suffer w/d. If however, on the other hand, you take subs for over six months, as I did, you WILL SUFFER, as I am currently suffering. Here's how it goes: Day 1 of no subs, slightly slugish. Day 2: Twice as bad, and gets worse as the day progresses. Day 3-4: death can't come quickly enough, nor can sleep, as that is a luxury long since past. Day 5: still sucks, but slightly better. Day 6: Off and on good and bad. Day 7: Still slugish, feels a little better, can't tell if the lack of energy is from w/d or the lack of sleep. Day 8: I've no idea, as that day, for me, is tomorrow. That being said, the one universal truth that I am currently holding near and dear is that from here on out, every day SHOULD get a little better. Long story short, subs are great in moderation. It's a painful lesson I'll not soon forget. |

suboxone is an opiate. just like any other opiate there will be withdrawl upon cessation of use. how much depends on how long you took it and at what level you decide to jump off. you need to taper as low as you possiby can before attempting to jump off. you would be surprised at how small you can cut those 2mg pills. the good news is the taper itself is pretty easy, relatively speaking. just trying to jump off an 8mg dose would be very unpleasant. taper, taper, taper
