I take 200 mg Oxycontin daily following 2 lumbar surgeries and multiple other surgeries.

Been on Oxy for 11-years.

Is there a way I can detox at home without killing myself.

Never could come close in the past. Way too nasty.

Please let me know if you have been successful or know someone who has.

Detoxing from oxycontin is a dangerous task it can even cause more health problems because of the violent withdrawls. Maybe buprenorphine might help it is a new detoxing medication, you will need a perscription for it though. My best advice would be to pro-actively treat your symptoms during withdrawls, you will have many. benzodiazepine can help like xanax or valium but sometimes make things even worse. One the positive side you were taking the medication for pain and not for enjoyment which might help your detox process. Here are some resources that might come in handy, all in all I wish you luck after all people do exist that have kicked this strong opiate pain killer.

I recently stopped taking oxycodone and kadian after being on them for over a year, I have had 5 cervical spine surgeries, and feel like I should try to live with out the drugs, I feel like I am going to die!
How long does it take for the withdrawls to stop ?

Are you kidding me!two to three weeks ! Does it depend on how much you've been using? My Doc is supervising ans says I will feel "dramatically" better after three days,he prescribed Clonidine and Ativan. I'm two days into this. Can someone tell me if my doctor is full of it!

I had been on vicodine and then norco, high doses for years then progressed to oxycodone again high doses to the point of suicide and severe depression. this went on for over aprox. 20+ years, unfortunatly it ALWAYS TAKES MORE! don't be decived, I finally sought help and detoxed myself with the help of a pain Doctor and Suboxone.... this is what you need. The blessing in this drug is the off label use once you detox useing this drug is it also is used for pain controll and it works!!! Hope this info helps? mike

I did it with heroin witch is equal to if not stronger. there are meds you can get to do it. buprinorphine i.e. suboxone works but some doctors are a real pain to go threw. i have been on it for over a year and my life is so mutch better.

i was hopelessly addicted to oxycontin for 3 years and tried everything to quit. as far as i am concerned there is only one way. it is thru the healing power of Jesus Christ. its as simple as that. i gave my life to the Lord and asked Him to heal me and he did. sure, i went thru some tremendous pain for about 90 days but after that i was set free and have been completely clean for 3 years and am loving life. i never thoght life could be this good. i recommend finding a born again christian church such as a calvary chapel in your area, aproaching the pastor with your problem, and let the Lord do the rest. i was an atheist and thought christianity was a load of crap until i hit bottom and had no place to go. honestly, Jesus is real but you have to let him in to your life. he will leave you alone unless you invite Him in. He will not force himself upon anyone. i will pray for you. please listen to my advice. there is so much more to life than what you are experiencing now. god has a better plan for you, you just have to allow him to implement it.

Moderator-- Please remove kyderby4ever's last post-- there is the chance that lorijim was trying to be helpful to someone out there who might find healing the way they did.... and that has everything to do with what we are all talking about here, GETTING BETTER, getting relief.

I am a chronic pain sufferer who will probably struggle with managing my meds all my life. But I have no problem with anyone sharing anything related which helped them. Even if I don't agree...

I happen to relate very closely to lorijim's post. However not taking anything is not an option for me at this time if I want to function. Nevertheless I appreciated the candor and spirit of lorijim's post.

Please respond Moderator-- I thought the rules for this site included civility and politeness?

On January 1st I asked if my Doc was full of it when I tried to quit oxy cold turkey. I just wanted to give an update that may be helpful to someone else. After 8 days I was still so sick I couldn't stand it so I went to my Doc and he put me back on 10mg 2x's a day. He also refered me to a pain clinic where I was advised to have a family member dispense my meds as I tapered off. Finally, two momths later I'm off the oxy. I just thank God that I got the help I needed. If it's at all possible I would advise anyone to taper off. The withdrawal was like going straight to hell.

oxycodone and oxycontin are different, one is time released (the drug u corrected with, its 5/10/20/40/80mg) did away with blue bullets (160's) oxycodone is available in 15mg pills 3 a day would be 45mg so they are accurate... the difference is that the 45mg are immediate release which are way more addictive, mg for mg intact, if you crush them, there equal mg for mg

<quoted text>RE:I aint a dr, or pharmacist but You aint supposed to split them Though most do any dr. will tell you.I assumed you were taking them correctly.Roxicodone is not time release and made in 15 and 30 mg. and maybe 45 mg.You have 45 and 100s listed as milliliter which is liquid form.I aint always right but you check it out and you might be wrong.Lot of people get their dope mixed up.You show me pic of 45 or 100 mg. oxys and i will believe it.Peace to those willing to fight for it.
the 45 100 comment wasnt made by me, but roxicodone is the brand name for oxycodone... no its not T/R and they can be split up for smaller doses, its the oxycontin(OC) thats T/R and should never be crushed up, but we know the abuse and what people do.. the mL is the liquid and to my knowledge its doesnt come higher than oxy 20 (30) doses per bottle (BTP) only... and they say its very dangerous bcuz its liquid form...
