Hi ajb, I currently take Opana ER and lortab 10mg for breakthrough. The lortabs do NOTHING for me anymore. As a matter of fact, I ran out of my opana and am just taking the lortabs now (My own fault) and they are not helping at all. WOuld you say the opana IR would be better if I asked my doctor? I go back Sept 28th and I am wondering if I should ask for something different for bt pain. I think he would change it but I just dont know what to change it to. I know you take the opana ER too so I thought you might have a suggestion. Thanks opanalady

wow are you a doctor or something, you are one smart cookie! thanks for all the great info you have been giving me sweetie! i will ask my doc on wed, right now he has me on 8 lousy 5's for the break thru pain, because i have the 2 oxy per day, but that is not enough for break thru cause when i get up in the morning, the pain is terrible, and i have to take at least 30mg roxi, to even get thawed out, i pop my er oxy too, but that is timed release and takes about 45 min. to take effect , but that is oonly about 8mg,per hour, oh another question the oxy's only seem to work for 6 to 8 hrs on me, they say they are supposed to last 12, so is that my tolerance level,or do they really only last about 8hrs,? thanks dear love ya cat

ok. Opana(IR) is way better than lortab, bug it's also the most expensive BT med, besides fentora. It also depends on, if you take your meds orally or not. If you want something stronger than hydrocodone, opana won't be good, unless ur snorting or iving. In your situation, Roxicodone/OxyIR, would be best. It's stronger than hydrocodone, and has a similar oral BA. If u like snorting or needles, dilaudid would be just as good as oxycodone, and around the same price. Dilaudid is very similar to opana IR, but it's way cheaper.

oxycontin does only last 8 hours, that's y my dr had me on it x3 daily. Oxycodone in itself, has short legs, so it doesn't last as long, as other opiates. That's the reason I switched from oc to opana er, because I like how long it lasts. Snorting 40mg oxy, lasts like 3 hours, for , me, and would not even help with pain. Snorting 20mg of opana, lasts longer than I have to wait, to take my next dose, and it's more than twice as strong.

That's y it's good to have other opiates, with your oxy, so when mixed, it lasts longer. Like OC with opana, or dilaudid for BT. Or opana ER, with roxi or dilaudid, so u get an effective med for the BT pain, and then the longer lasting med, for the long periods.

That's y oc sux, naturally, oxymorphone lasts longer than oxycodone. I bet opana IR lasts longer than OC does

I have very good insurance and all my meds including my opana cost me 20 bucks every month and thats even with my doctors appointments so I am not as worried about cost as I am with what will work for the pain. I do snort the opana ER sometimes when the pain is really bad but I do not IV because I am and always have been scared to death of needles....lol Thanks for your help though. Maybe I'll see if I can get the oxycodone 15mg or something because the lortabs are worthless. Thanks ajb

I have another question. I think I have seen you mention that you also snort your opana ER. How do you take the coating off? I have really been snorting everything I think and I know its not good for me but I cannot figure out how to get the coating off. I have scraped it along side the rivets of the pill crusher and I get some of it out but do you have a better way of doing it? I dont like it because everything I eat afterwards tastes very medicine like and It stays with me all the time. I have also heard it can be dangerous although I am pretty sure all of this shit is dangerous...lol but if there is a trick that I can learn, that would be really helpful. I think you should try the dilaudid, because you have been taking hydrocodone, you won't have any bad side effects, because 10% of your hydrocodone, turns to hydromorphone, in your body. And since you snort sometimes, you will be able to get the good pain relief, that hydromorphone gives, because your tollerence shouldn't be as high. Oxy15, isn't as good as dilaudid8, but oxy30, is best, unless u IV opanaIR, or dilaudid8.

With the coatings, I put the pill, in mg mouth, for probably 6 seconds, without getting the powder wet, and then I wipe the wet paint off, with a napkin, or shirt, or towel. I used to peel the paint, with a razor, but the razor would ware, after using it everyday, and it would start to waste powder. It's worth it, to wipe off the paint.

So...
1.opana10 (80mg oxy, if snorted/160mg IV)
2 roxy30
3.dilaudid8 (similar ba to opana)
4.roxicodone15

in that order.

roxi30 is better than opana and hydromorphone, orally. But if you snort or iv the dili or opana, they are way way better.
Then orally, dilaudid 8mg is better than oxy15, and opana 10mg is better than diliudid 8mg, and oxy15, but not oxy30.
Dilaudid is a way stronger drug, than oxycodone, but h won't get the effects, unless u snort it, or take a lot, or iv it, or plug it.

is easiest to just put the pill in your mouth, for a few secs, and then spit it into a towel, and wipe off the paint. As long as u don't wet it too much, the pill itself won't get wet, just the paint. U shouldn't have to wait for it to dry, just blow on it, for a few secs.
I ALSo don't think u will get dilaudid,unless u get a lower pill. The 2mg dilaudid is as strong as 5mg oxy, so u might be able to get that.
If you are on lortab 10mg, the next strongest pill is percacet, with is oxycodone with Tylenol. Just to give you a scale...
Lortab10=oxy5=dilaudid2, so.… if you want the next strengh up,
Oxy10=dilaudid4=opana5. So those 3 should be your choices

bring up all the Breakthrough meds, to your dr, and he'll let u know, what one he thinks is best. I would go with dilaudid 4mg, or perc10mg

they have the new oxycotin out. I'm told gel up when you snort them( I do no snort anything ) I was wandering if the Opana do they also gel up. A friend of mine ask me to check into she doesn't have a computer and she snorts them I have tryed to tell her that the filler in the pill goes into your lungs and stays there, at least the is what i have read. Also the Opana time release is it better than the oxycotin time release because the new oxy seem to upset my stomach not sure if its the new stuff they put in it or what but the others did not that to me. Thought maybe returning the script and trying the Opana

If you take off the outer coating before railing them they won't gel up, and even if you kept the coating on it would gel up. But what it will do is get clogged in your nose and it will feel like it's gelled up but you jus gotta keep tryna get it to go through. You also will have to wait about 10-20 minutes before you start feeling it. It doesn't hit you instantly like oc does. I like the Opana better because it's way stronger and for me it costs less than oc.. hope that was helpful

i have read alot of posts about the new op making people nauseous and even vomit, and alot of people that this is happening to are taking it the prescribed way! why on earth would they make a damn pill that when taken the correct way makes you sick, purdue really sucks! i have heard good stuff about opana you can ask opana lady or ajb, they really know alot about opana.love cat
