Its day 1 with no opiates! I have to say, if you can find a doctor that will prescribe you suboxone, DO IT. I feel like my old self again! I am not thinking about oxycontin, and am actually thinking about important things to me other than drugs. Hopefully I can ween off of the suboxone slowly, and be drug free. I already feel like I have made SUBSTANTIAL progress. I have only been on suboxone for 2 doses, but so far I recomend this to ANYONE looking to quit opioids!!!!!

No, I was just recreationally taking OC. It doesnt really have MUCH pain relief qualities from what my doc said. It helps moderate pain is what he said. For anyone just looking to get clean, it is a miracle drug.

I've had five back surgeries and am in constant pain. Sometimes the pain level is low and sometimes very high, but it's never gone. I have to walk with a cane. I take a lot of prescribed OC and more if I can get it. I have an addiction, but I also have a very real need for some amount of the narcotic for pain relief. I usually take more than I need. It's so hard to control. I have a love/hate relationship with OC. I don't know what to do. I'm glad I have a doc to write it for me. I'd hate to imagine a day w/out it. I just feel very guilty for taking it. OC controls me, I don't control it. I hate that.

Oxycontin WAS controlling my life. I was just taking it recreationally so I can't understand having to take it for pain. I hope you can learn to take your prescribed amount Pnfulyadktd. If you are only taking your prescribed amount, then you are making progress. Maybe talk to your doctor and be honest with him about EVERYTHING you told me, he will help you. You arent alone buddy, you can beat this!

Thanks for the moral support Yankeefan. It's just a screwed up cycle. I get my levels down for a few days and then I have a day with a little more activity than usual........BAM! I'm right back to high doses again for several days until I get thru the pain and then begin lowering the dose again over the next several days. I hate it. I probably just need to find the middle ground and take it the same everyday, even if it doesn't seem like I need it some days. Hopefully it will still be enough to help on the really bad days.

Thanks again for your concern. I was hoping that Suboxone offered some pain relief. I wish I could get to a point where I could just take a pill when I hurt really bad and deal with it the rest of the time. Unfortunately my pain levels and the properties of OC don't allow part time use. The physical addiction is just too hard to overcome.

I wish you continued success in your quest to be opiate free. Good luck in K-ville!

No problem, it makes me feel good to offer moral support. I have been in the position to where I needed support myself. I'll be praying for you.

I'm on Suboxone 8mg a day it does offer some pain relif, but not near enough for me. I have a fracture in one of my lower back vertabrae L5 S1 area methadone seems to work a lot better as none of the other opiates work very well hydrocodone, percocet, or the oxy's, my only advice is try it, it might work better for you then it does me

I have been taking suboxone now for 3 weeks. My past drug of choice was Narco and Lortab, and hydrocodone. I feel better taking the suboxone. But what if I took an oxycontin(15mg)just one pill while still having the suboxone in your system.......will I get sick?

I abused OC's for 2 years, snorting 80 to 240 mgs per day. I am on the 2nd week of a suboxone program and I feel great. I have even tried skipping the suboxone dose and I feel cured. I will never go back to wasting my money on OC. I spent $20-30,000 in the past couple of years.
Try to find a doctor near you who will get you in the program. The other big key was being prescribed Wellbutrin.

Hey-I'm taking methadone now to get off of Oxycontin. I've heard horror stories about coming off of the methadone though and did some research on Suboxone. There are a few doctor's in my area that can prescribe it and I just wanted some feedback on anyone that's taken it before. Is it possible to wean off of the Sub. with virtually know withdrawal symptoms?
