I was on Femcon Fe for about 2 years, loved it and never had a problem. Its expensive because its chewable...which I understand. So my doc tried to save me money and gave me Zenchent 0.4/35. I have been on Zenchent now for about 6 months, I do have a light period occasionally, break outs that last about 2 weeks. And I've gained an incredible amount about 25lbs on my 5'2" frame!! So not sure if paying $27 (from walgreens) is worth it, I'm gonna try and switch back to Femcon Fe, too bad its $90!

I was put on Ovcon and the Pharmacy has given me Zenchent. WORST THING EVER! I am bleeding like a stuck pig. Clumps and what feels like hemmorage - uncontrollable and horrific cramps! Put a call in today to see what can be done. I'm single and not involved with anyone - so the ONLY reason I'm on this stuff is to control the cramps and horrific period symptoms. I can get cramps, sore breasts, excessive bleeding WITHOUT birth control...why would I PAY FOR IT!? I hate Zenchent!!!!

Ovcon or Zenchent either one has to be taken at exactly the same time everyday or within an hour of that time are you will have spotting. Also, if you take it at exactly the exact time everyday you can end up not having a period at all that month.

Same as all of you, I am very disappointed about Ovcon being discountinued. I've been taking the drug for 30 years!! on and off between my three pregnancies. Only once I had to take Balzivia for a two months. Not a good idea, I was hungry 24/7 and gain a few pounds during that time.

I was put on ovcon when I was a teenager because i had really bad periods so bad i couldnt function. Now for a few months im on this other one and it sucks at life. With the ovcon that was the only birthcontrol that worked and I was on it for almost 5 Years!! Now this other one i have light spotting when i do get my monthly cycle it stinks i have cramps and its like when I was younger all over again.!! I really want to know if there is someone I can talk to about this so if there is someway to bring back ovcon. All of these people apparently have the same issue as me. I thought medicine and practicing was suppose to be about results and consistency about medication. I am currently in med school, so I am in the field. I just dont think it is right that they took it off the market just because it was costly to produce and give!

Don't worry at all. It is the same as Ovcon, but cheaper. I have not had any problems :)

I was just recently release from the hospital after 6 days (3 days in CCU) due to blood clots in my lungs.. I was tested for everything, cancer, diabetes, etc.. to see if there was something else that was causing this.. everything came back negative.. my doctors are saying Balzvia has to be the cause.. I do not smoke and have never had any other serious health problems..I did have borderline high blood pressure but nothing that needed medicine...Ladies please be careful with this drug it could cost you your life..

I don't know about this pill. I took Ortho Tri-Cyclen & then the generic of it for 14 years. Due to some medical issues my doctor thought switching pills might help and gave me Zenchent. This is my fourth month and I still have break though bleeding! He told me it would take awhile for my body to adjust, but I mean if I'm even an hour late taking it I start spotting a few days later. Will this stop or should I switch back to my old pill?

I've been taking Balziva for about 8 years now, and I've never had any trouble with it. My period comes like clockwork on the off week, no cramps, I get the occasional headache but that's it. They're not heavy but they're not super-light, either. That was the generic they gave me for Ovcon-35 back when I first started taking birth control; I pay next to nothing for it and it works for me.

I was on Ortho Tri-CyclenLo for a number of years. I moved to a new state and got a new Dr. that changed my BC to Balziva. I have been on it for 4 months and in that time, I have passed out, had chest "pains", had blurred vision in one eye on and off, my blood pressure has increased and so has my cholesterol. All of these symptoms I never experienced before. I workout 4-5 days a week, with a trainer and I have still managed to gain weight. This drug is not safe for everyone! Please be aware of this.

I have been on many different bc pills. I was on Seasonique to try to have my period less but it made my body go haywire & I was bleeding more often than not so then I went on Loestrin 24 to get back on a regular cycle but I had breakthrough bleeding with that as well and mood swings. My doc put me on Ovcon (but I got the generic version Balziva because it's only $5 per month vs.$35) for the higher estrogen & so far I love Balziva! No breakthrough bleeding, no weight gain, my skin seems clearer, my sex drive has actually increased a lot, and my boobs seem bigger (no complaints here) without any tenderness. Finally I feel normal. Every woman is different & you just need to find the pill that works with your body. And to whoever posted the link about the side effects, all pills have the same side effects listed if you just read them.

I'm 51,about to turn 52.......got pregnant at 50,and fibroids were discovered. Was put on Micronor because it doesn't have any estrogen which causes fibroids to grow.Had very irregular and long periods but my moods were ok.Now my gyno has switched me to Zenchent and I hate it!!!!My moods are all over the place!I'm bloated and have put on 5 pounds! My sex drive is pretty much out the window too!Have had 2 migraines in the last week and am only at the end of my second week of pills!Screw this!I'm going back to the Micronor.I'd rather have irregular periods than all the rest of this crap!Anyone else having the same problems with Zenchent?

I have problems with Balziva too. My doctor said that the generic form of Ovcon-35 is a little different and doesn't stay in your system as long. I'm tired of being woken up every night by menstrual cramps, so I'm switching back to Ovcon-35.

I was too was switched from Ovcon to Balziva and it was horrible, cramping & moodiness so I switched back to Ovcon. I went to my doctor in September for my annual and was told Ovcon had been replaced by Femcon and was just a chewable version of Ovcon. Well after being on this Femcon for 3 months it is not the same. I have had breakthrough bleeding, cramping and been moody. I called the pharmacy this morning to find out if Ovcon was still being made and they said it was. So, then I call my doctor's office, tell them what the pharmacy said and that I need a new prescription. Apparently the drug reps came in last summer and pulled all their Ovcon samples and told the doctors that Ovcon was being discontinued and that Femcon was the replacement. I am still not sure if I still have the correct answers or not, but I was glad to find this forum and know that I am in the same boat with a lot of other women.

Balziva gave me a blood clot. At age 19. Yup now I have to deal with the crappy aide effects of the Mirena because I can't be on estrogen pills. I hate balziva. Does anyone know if there were any recalls on it ?

I was switched to The generic Brielle because the manufacturer has put Ovcon 35 on back order I felt nuts and realized my dr had said I don't absorb generics well. My body needs estrogen. I don't function well without it. I am 53 and my dr won't give me Premarin. Most likely that is all I need but most drs I have seen just keep women on the birth control pill. Ovcon 35 is the best one I have ever taken. I hope there will be something just like it. I won't take any more generics. I hope someday I will be prescribed Premarin. I am sick of the hormone roller coaster and just want to feel normal.

Also, I used to be on Zenchant and it was horrible. That was before my dr. Told me that generics aren't always absorbed as well. I had also been on several other generic in the past. I used to feel tired, depressed, get night sweats, insomnia etc etc. I wish everyone the best of luck and follow your instincts about your body. I had to find a better ob gyn and she also gives me Premarin vaginal cream. It does help and I also told her my body does better on Ovcon 35 because it has .35 estradiol. Any pill that had .30 estradiol didn't help me. I just spent $340.00 on the real Ovcon 35 at Walgreens b/c they were able to get a 3 month supply and I had already bought the awful generic at CVS. CVS can't get the real Ovcon 35 so I did what I had to do to feel better. If Ovcon 35 is discontinued I will get a new script for whatever takes its place but NO More generic birth control for me!

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Leo

This is a great day for fixing things that have gone wrong. If there have been ructions in your relationship with a certain person this is when you can sort things out and get them back on track. If an appliance or gadget is going on the blink, this is your cue to either get it mended or chuck it out and replace it. You may also find time to tidy up your immediate surroundings or take all those bottles and papers to your nearest recycling center. How virtuous you'll feel when it's all done!
