I am so glad I found this forum. I had the Implanon removed after having it 16 months. Now, I have been taking Balziva for 3 months, and it is the ABSOLUTE WORST! My cycle started while on my 3rd row of pills for the first 2 months, and now I am on my first row, I am again spotting/bleeding. I think OB/GYN's need to do more research when they prescribe ANY birth control. I am definitely changing to something different.

I have been taking Balziva for the past three years after being switched from Ovcon 35 by my insurance company (because they ALWAYS know what's best for you and don't need to inform you of any changes), and it IS NOT the same pill. After finding this site and reading all the posts, I am relieved to hear that other women have suffered from the same extreme depression, anxiety, mood swings and loss of sex drive after taking Balziva. I always thought something was different with the generic pill but figured it is something that I either must live with or maybe it's me and not the pill. Well, after reading everyone's thoughts on Balziva, I am DONE with it and look forward to getting back to my 'normal' self with good ole' Ovcon. My husband will be happier as well!

The pharmacy gave me Zenchent after taking Balziva for 4 months. My head feeles like it is in a vice grip for 3 days. Had major bleeding issues with Balziva. After reading all of these posts going back to Ovcon and paying more. It is just not worth it. I am hoping my body will realign itself and that life will return to normal :)

Do any of you have any experience with Zenchent? That is the generic that they gave me for Ovcon 35. I have always taken OrthoCyclene, but my Dr. wouldn't prescribe it for me after I had my second son because he said too many women were showing up pregnant while taking the generic form of it. On the Zenchent, I've been 'incredible hulk angry' at the stupidest things....and I'm bleading almost 21 days out of the month. It is so depressing to bleed that much! Now my Dr. wants me to try Loestrin 24 (sp?) and I'm worried about that because it hasn't been out very long. The Dr. assures me that all women go through a 3 month period of adjustment anytime their hormone levels change...so I should just try it and wait, but I'm scared. Thouhts???

I had been on Ortho tri Cyclen for about 8 years. Then I found out my insurance doesn't cover it any longer. I got the generic brand (I can't remember the name) and I remember it making me sick and it made my periods last a good 8-10 days. My doctor then gave me Femcon. It was awful! It made gave me nausea every time I took it, if I took it at night i would wake up nautious and feel sick all day. If I missed one pill I got my period. That was on top of the fact that it cost me $40 a month when the o rtho cost me 7. The only upside to the Femcon was that my period only lasted 3-4 days.
I told my doctor I wasn't liking Femcon, got a new prescription, and I find its for Balziva. I start it on Sunday. I'm a little apprehensive but then again I remember people telling me their horror stories about Ortho and it was just fine for me. I guess I can only try it to find out. Wish me luck!

oh man... so i've just read a bunch of comments and am now a little worried to start Balziva... I've been off Ovcon-35 for about a year now (moved and the Planned Parenthood I went to did not have it) but now I just got a script today and the CVS gave me this Balziva... It better not be as bad as it's been for some people or I'm going to go off on someone. I take Ovcon-35 because it's better for heavier set people and I don't need to gain anymore weight or have headaches and stuff...

Wish me luck... Hope things get better for the rest of you ladies...

I was on Ovcon-35 for my first Pill and I called it the Devil Pill! I was on it for a year, I bled 2-4 weeks each pack, I had horrible acne that i was on antibiotics for. The positives were ZERO weight gain. That was all. BUT each pill it different for each person.

As many women have expressed, I am so happy to have found this forum. Like many posters, I was on Ovcon-35 and loved it. I had very few side-effects (no weight gain), and was quite happy. How thrilling to find a birth control method that works for you.

Then the switch to Balziva. It is absolutely appalling that so many people to were just switched (often without any notice) because it was cheaper for the drug companies to make them. I mean if I want Ovcon, and am prescribed Ovcon, pay my doctor to give it me, I should get that drug, right? And if the companies are going to make some changes, I should be notified, right? If only people took us more seriously.

After reading these posts, I don't feel so crazy. I've been on Balziva for a while now, since the switch. And I thought it was me. Or that I could trust my doctor when he said, "Take this, it's the same." But it's not.

Could I list all the side effects? Extremely tender, swollen breasts. Depression. Anxiety. Missed periods two months in a row (not pregnant as confirmed several pregnancy tests). Immobilizing cramping. Way too emotional. After reading these posts, I feel more empowered. We women have rights. And all this time I've succumbed to taking a pill that isn't working. It is so frustrating that so many women (including me), have had their complaints and concerns pushed under the carpet.

So what am I going to do? I guess look into if Ovcon is still available, is it? Or if not that, try this Femcon Fe. It's so hard to figure out the truth without being flat out marketed. Balziva may work for some folks, but it is making me a mess. Trust your instincts.

I love Balziva, no problems. My pharmacy switched me to the Zenchent and I hated it. I felt extreme fatigue and had break through bleeding the week before my period. I switched pharmacies and went back to Balziva.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Gemini

You're in a very erratic mood today, making you restless, edgy and nervy. It may be almost impossible to settle to anything for long, because, as Mercury slows, you soon lose interest. If life becomes boring you'll want to liven it up in some way and it's likely you'll choose the most disruptive and controversial option you can think of, even though you know this will cause trouble.
