This always bothers me. Who are these people kidding? We really need an official study to determine that quitting a practice that restricts your lung capacity will benefit performance in any physical exertion where heavy breathing typically results?

Actually, beyond the lungs, nicotine constricts your blood vessels. It therefore is inhibiting blood flow in your body. Constant smoking, will damage the blood vessels over time and decrease blood flow efficiency. Combined with getting older or with alcohol, this can kill a man's penis.

As a man gets older, he would be very wise to decrease or give up his smoking and drinking habits, if he likes sex and his penis.

Smoking has negative effects on women as well. The vagina of smoker women tends to get drier over time. So over time, she can have wetness problems. Also such women can be so addicted that they want to bring the cigarettes into the bed with them and want smoke breaks, which can be annoying and odd to a non/light smoker. Smoking also has a tendency to damage the skin of women more, so they get age spots and discoloration sooner.

I've never encountered a remedy that removes the nauseating taste/smell of cigarettes from th hair/shin/mouth of a smoker. We nonsmokers seem to be able to detect it regardless. I will NOT date a smoker.
