Gabapentin side effects

Has anyone experienced flu-like symptoms whilst taking

gabapentin and if so does it go away after a few weeks or does it stay?

Dear Freddo-Yes, I thought I had the flu. Since it has been almost 6 weeks I doubt I did. I went off 200mg of my 1200mg daily for over 16 years and I caved after 5 weeks due to withdrawal. Now that I have been back on the 200mg I am very sick. Look up the side effects at www,mayoclinic.com . I sure hope they go away because I now have severe depression, no energy, no hope and no motivation. I couldn't feel more emotionally unstable if I tried (except when going through withdrawals). But, I get side effects going on or off of a drug. If you haven't been on it long-get off it!!! It is highly addictive (like crack) and you can go to the thread on withdrawal. Don't do that to yourself.

I was on this Gabapentin for a month. I already take Welbutrin & Lexapro for depression and they work pretty well. When I added Gabapentin to the mix I felt like a total depressed zombie. I also kept experiencing pain which seemed to increase over that 30 day period. It got to the point where I felt like my muscles (especially the tops of my arms and my leg muscles were stiff as boards and painful. As soon as I stopped taking it the zombie depression lifted and the stiffness and pain (seemed worse in the a.m. and mostly in my hands and feet) went away. I have a friend who takes it and swears by it ... but it reacted totally different in me.
