Looking for anyone who may have had a similar experience. I was given naproxen sodium to alleviate back and joint pain. I gained about twenty pounds in less than a month (165-185 lbs), despite being on an extremely restricted diet.(660mg. daily) Anybody out there with pertinent information, possible explanation or similar experience?

I was given Naproxen for Fibromyalgia and I put on weight,as it was making my body retain water.Doctors called it generalised oedema, any medications containing ibuprofren makes my body react in this way,so now its in my medical notes and I always inform doctors when I have to see them.

I have been using this drug for just over a year, have not gained any weight but feel as though i am on another planet most of the time, not sure if it is down to this drug or the other ones i take for my back pain. Most of the time i feel tired and find it hard to concentrate.

I have been taking Naproxen for three weeks and have gained so much weight that I cannot fit into my clothes. I will live with the discomfort until I lose this weight....

I have been on naproxen for about three years because of fluid on the knee...that was about 100 lbs ago...I got off of them but ended up almost bed ridden...it did not help that i suffered from hypothyroidism after having my gall bladder removed...If anyone has any information I would greatly appreciate it...

I have put on 3# in four days after starting Aleve AM and PM. If I stop will the weight drop or do I really need to diet and exercise even harder?

I have been on Naproxen since 2/14/08. I have noticed that my clothes have been fitting tighter. I thought that it was because I have a very sensitive stomach and have to eat a very full meal when I take Naproxen. Maybe it is the meds. I am only supposed to be on it for 2 weeks because of my stomach, so maybe I will lose the 5 pounds or so that I have gained over the last 6 days.

I have been on Naproxen for about five days and the weight I have gained is emotionally taking a toll on me. I've gone from a size 2 to a size 6 in so little time I think I'm throwing this crap away.

I am looking into a possible link between Naproxen and gall bladder issues. Did you take Naproxen before you starated to have gallbladder issue?

I joined Slimming World to lose some weight and in the first week lost 5 and a half pounds. I was then prescribed Naproxen by my doctor for bursitis in my hip. At my next weigh in, despite sticking to the eating regime religiously, I'd gained 2lbs. The only thing I'd done differently that week was start the Naproxen ... you figure it out!

Glad to know that it isn't just me, but sad to know that my doctor didn't think it was that serious. I've been on naproxin for 6 days and gained 7 lbs. Even though I started exercising more and eating less the last two days, my weight continues to climb!

Has anyone who has ceased taking Naproxen lost the weight gained from taking it? If so, just how quickly did you notice the change? I've gained an average of 3-4 pounds each week since beginning Naproxen yet have noticed no decrease in pain from the osteoarthritis in my hands. This is ridiculous! The side effects of OTC Aleve and Ibuprofen on a continuous basis are just as bad, if not worse! I've had more relief from eucalyptus oil as a topical treatment....just spray on and rub in!

I have been taking naproxen and antibiotics for 2 years and have gained 45 pounds. Even though I stopped them, the weight and fluid would not leave. I even took prescription diuretics and nothing happened. I am now doing a naturopathic liver detox and have lost 6 pounds of water weight in 2 days. These drugs seem to get stored in the liver and kidneys and that is what causes all the havoc. It will take a few more weeks till I know about the fat loss.
