Take-home methadone concerns lawmakers

I cant beleive so many people can take time out of their lives to worry about what other people are doing. There was a lady that commented on her highschool aged kid taking methodone and wondered how come the clinics dont regulate better to protect her "innocent child". Well lady if your child is really so "innocent" you wouldnt have to worry about them being dumb enough to take a medication without their name on it. I am sick of people running around using their children as an excuse to try to step on other peoples rights and privacy.Quit trying to make your morals and religion forced on other people! I am a methodone patient and I follow all the rules and have been clean for almost two years. I pay for my own methodone and as far as I know its not even paid for by medicaid. Dont judge other people for needing help (medicaid, foodstamps ect) when you havent walked a day in their shoes. It could happen to your kid one day(drug addiction) wouldnt you want them to have somewhere to go to get help?

Methadone is a opiate blocker. It blocks your brain from getting the rest of your body high. When your on methadone if you use drugs, you won't get high off of them. It is not drugs, it's a medication to block the drugs from getting someone high. Do you understand. I have been on it for 2 1/2 yrs. I am clean & sober now. I don't get high off of Methadone. Nobody does, it's other pills or meds that are getting people high, NOT METHADONE, I'M SO TIRED OF THE MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT IT. WHEN WILL IT EVER STOP.

Deb..It won't stop...I have been on methadone Maintenance since Jan 2001, And I have been on 160mg since July 2002. I know I don't get high, you know you don't get high, but trying to make these idiots listen to you is like talking to a brick wall. When I tell them I have been working my whole life, they think I am lying. No matter what we say, what we do, there are stupid jelious ignorant people, so the best thing to do, and I know it's hard, just laugh at them and try to ignore them. They probably are addicts themselves, and when they see us they see themselves and that is why they fear us and hate us. The best thing we can do is show by example. We know the truth. they are just hicks that know nothing except what they read in the conservative newspapers, and they listen to dummys like Rush Limbaugh.. Just laugh at them..We know who we are, who cares what a bunch of ignorant country bumkins think..Just try your best not to stoop to their level.. Hopefully when their kids, mother, father, sister, brother or best friends get this diease they will shut up..

Debra's "judge-its" speak for themselves. There are people who believe. Comments that are rude tend to come from people who aren't well informed. They have nothing really to contribute so they look for sites where they get pleasure from trying to make other people look bad, There is no research from them or anything it is just plain old ignorant mean talk. Water off a duck's back!
Unfortunately they will probably prove themselves by adding mean ones after this but we can laugh then.

Your right they should start checking people and helping them to wean off of methadone after years and years of it. But, then they would just go back to the drug use and it would start all over again. It can only be done, if the person if committed to stopping all drug use. Methadone only blocks the use of Opiates. Like (vicadin, oxys,all opiates,Heroin) It cannot help someone when they do other drugs on top of their methadone doses. I been at my clinic for almost 3 yrs. I have clean UA's for years and I cannot get takeout's for a month. I only have 2 take out's a week. I have been there 3 yrs. I wish I could have more. No, I don't I wish ?I wouldn't have to go anymore. I wish I was off methadone, and I will wean off of it and be off all drugs forever. I am clean for 1 year on Oct.6th. I have been clean for 2 1/2 yrs almost 3yrs. I will never go back to drugs in my lifetime. I will die first, I will die anyway if I do!

The very idea of 'normal' has not been forced on these addicts by virtue of this 'ideal' If it's free, they should be made to come daily for their dose and that's it. Otherwise, wean yourselves off it!

It sounds like you have some jealousy issues going on here? I can see your anger,but it's for a dumb reason. If you needed help, why don't you get it? If he's trying to get off drugs I'm all for it, no matter who pays for it. Do you pay for it! I am sick and tired of people saying the tax payers are paying for free drugs. Your all wrong, it is a opiate blocker. So when you try and get high you don't because the dose of methadone blocks it from your brain. You will not get high. You will be wasting you money if you try? It not a waste of time, it's for people trying to get off drugs. Maybe he will surprise your whole family and get off drugs for good? It not for anyone to judge when, or why, or how anyone finds the light and finally get's off drugs forever. It took me 30 yrs. I am clean now and I wish I would have done it sooner. But, I wasn't ready, now I am and It great. Try and be supportive, saying bad things just make life worse for no reason at all. Support and reassureing support is the only thing that will help someone get off drugs for good, & meetings and love. OKAY!

Excuse me for not remembering every single thing I posted. I am try to explain to you the best that I can. But, with others so worried about a mistake, how can I get through to anyone. I'm trying to say, it does good for the one's who want to stop. But, there are some who want to just stay high, they only use it so they won't feel the withdrawls when they don't have enough money to buy drugs. I am not one of them? I hate those types of people, there wasting spots for people who want to get off of drugs. It is sick when you say you want off drugs, then you get your dose and go get high after you leave. On other drugs, most all of the people like that use these pills to get high ontop of methadone. They cannot get high when they use heroin anymore. So they use other drugs. OK!

From what i see on here is there is only you and a few others that know what they are talking about,they are so much just wanting to argue about something.And it is true that the people that come to these clinics to just get high should not be there,but where i go they may get away with it for a little while but they will get caught and kicked out of the program.And as far as take homes,i do get mine,i only go 1 time a month,but i am randomly called in to see if i have all my bottles and meds in them.Also when you have finally worked your way up to get this many carryouts your whole life style has changed because you are clean and doing what you are supposed to be doing,i doubt it very seriously that the ones like my self are the ones selling it.I earned mine by doing what was asked of me.I am actually glad to see there is some other people that feel the same way i do.Thank you for being smart enough to see beyond all the negativity that goes on here
