I don't think that serving 30 years is punishment enough. The animal should be tortured like he tortured her in order for me to entertain the possibility of justice being served. How is being in jail with 3 meals every day punishment? TORTURE HIM.

Where was her 23 year old daughter during this period? Didn't she bother to check on her mother and grandmother?

"Even his attorney, Jennifer Cruz, said she doesn't know much about his client beyond that she believes he's mentally ill. "He feels bad for the whole situation," Cruz said, calling what Michell endured "a tragedy." Mentally ill my ass, the guy knew what he was doing! The guy deserves the punishment he's been handed.

Okay, I do feel sorry for this woman - but it sounds like there is something wrong with her too. By the way, the article doesn't say what happened to her mother? And yes, I too want to know where the daughter was all these years. But more importantly - why is this story even in the paper?

This article left more information out than it put in.What happened to the mother, where was the lady's daughter while all of this went on, and over what period of time did this all take place? Also, the women who was hired as a nurse, Elizabeth Cowdrick, should be arrested as well. Was she an accomplice? Why wasn't this reported right away? Because she didn't want to lose her JOB!!! Are you kidding me? Also, if the abuse was so bad, why didn't Mitchell go to the police as soon as she escaped? Is she also mentally ill?

There are many holes in this story, many questions left unanswered. How can she just escape and end up in the hospital for a month then rehab knowing her ill mother was left with this animal? If I had escaped a situation like that my first stop wouldn't have been the thrift store!!! Why didn't she just kill him when he fell asleep instead of escaping?? It would have been obvious self defense. I guess it's easy for others to say what they would have done. I just think there are too many questions left. Maybe we'll have to find out in her book. I hope she can find peace and I hope he's tortured in jail.

Unless you have had an ordeal with a "predator" you cannot imagine the manipulation that is forced upon you. These men are very cunning and you become emotionally and physically dependant on them. The fear is unimaginable and the shame that is somewhere in you is overshadowed by the fear. All women need to be aware of men who come on to them with all the "answers"... you to could become a "victim" of a vicious predator. I encourage everyone whe see's this type of behavior who is in charge of someone's care (as was Elizabeth Cowdrick) to report it immediately. I wish Pamela peace.

On occasions when women do that, they are often prosecuted for murder, the argument being, "You could've just left and reported it to authorities." It COMPLETELY depends on who the D.A. is.

It must be something in the Puget Sound waters in Washington State, because theirs a lot of cowardice beast roaming the streets like this one. I hope this article hits the prison he's serving 30 years in, so the inmates there can beat him like he did this lady. We the people should push for a "New National Law" called the [family Law]. It would consist of letting every family member, or in her case, closest friends; beat a convicted punk for 3 minutes a piece with a miniature bat, while handcuffed to an iron pole, than let them suffer without medical treatment until their wounds healed. Other countries let there citizens decide the punishment for criminals. Why not in the U.S? I bet a lot of jerks would think twice, after seeing this enforced on others.
