My derm told me he sees no reason to up the dosage i was just there like 3 weeks ago, like i said its really only on the outer parts of my cheeks but none of the pimples are sore anymore, like thet would be so painfull to touch, and also my face is never oily anymore its soo great myface use to be so oily, not anymore =] so im guessing the accutane must be doing something? I'm like a month and a half into my 6month treatment.. I need your thoughts!! thanks fellas

You can always use facial creams to help the red marks on your face go away. I've used three different types of creams, Retin-a-micro, Differin, and Tretin-x, until I found the one that worked best for me. I didn't like Retin-a-micro all that much, but Tretin-x was okay. Tretin-x is jut about the strongest thing you can get lol. Between the three, I thought that Differin had the best results. It didn't make my face really dry, and when I would put it on at night, it seemed like I could tell that the red marks were fading even by the time I woke up in the morning. My only advice besides that would probably be don't use it every night. It usually makes you face peel/really dry if you do that. Try using a dime-sized amount every other night, or whatever works best for you. Your dermatologist will probably tell you the same thing, to use a topical cream. I've been dealing with acne for a long time, so I know how frustrating it can be. Hope this helps!

Hey, i'm 17 and have been on accutane 2 months ago on 20mg daily for a 1 month period, then went off it for a month because i got depressed, than about 3 weeks go went back on to 40mg daily. The first month all my acne went away but i have alot of red spots all around my face that isn't active acne, but i don't feel anything there, its just my skin, but theres still red spots and i'm waiting for them to go away. How long did it take any of you for those to go away? Joe(stillwater,PA) i see you ahve the same problem but it wasn't answered so I'm asking people for myself. And joe did yours go away?

Google: Bill Sarid accutane.
Dont use accutane. You are making a huge mistake. There is a better way. Heat damages protiens, carbs, oils, fats, cholesterols and turns them into toxins that create many diseases from acne to various cancers. Eat a raw food diet and you will not have acne. Google: Waisays. |

I'm a 37 year old female who went on a 6 month course of accutane at the age of 29. I experienced no adverse effects (as I recall 30mg tablets). I didn't have any excessive drying of the nasal cavities, lips, eyes, headahces, or any other of the "typical" side effects. No depression (which I tend to have anyway), mood swings, or suicidal thoughts... and my liver work-ups all came back fine. My acne did get worse before it got better, and my skin was flawless while on the drug. But, at the end of the six months, the acne returned same as before. My Dermatologist said sometimes it takes a second round to get the full benefit from the drug, but refused to put me on it again because of the potential for damage to the liver. So, while I had a fairly successful run with the drug - at least while on it - it's definitely not a guarantee that you'll be cured of acne. As I said, I'm 37 and still looking for the "magic cure". I've done minocycline as well, with good results, but you don't want to stay on it indefinitely, and as soon as I get off it... back to acne. Best of luck to all the folks trying to find a cure. I never had acne until the age of 26, so I feel for all the younger folks who are starting with it so early on.
