My mother-in law has been on Lovastatin for some time. Recently her memory has gotten very bad, she is only 69.
Reading about Lipitor and other Statin drugs having this horrible side effect.
Has anyone had experience with this, gone off, gotten any better? She is going to stop taking the pills...we convinced her of that. But she actually had to write herself a note..her memory is that bad.
Any experience you have had with this would be appreciated.

Hi. I am writing a play on a group of characters i have researched very well, however it is integral to the plot that one of the characters a 49 year old man has a severe case of memory loss. I was wondering if anybody who knew somebody suffering from memory loss could e-mai me some details to make my play more realistic. I know i can research this from books etc but i'd appreciate hearing from someone with first hand experiences.
Many thanks

Hi.
My husband is on a very high dose of Lipitor - 80mg. He feels that it has affected him mind, and I notice a change. We are caught between a rock and a hard place as he has severe coronary heart disease, had bypass surgery.

In the last 3 months I have placed on many drugs including mevacor & I am just about to the point of stopping the mevacor & see if it is the drug causing my memory problems as well. I am a 52 y.o. man & had none of these symptoms when I wasn't on any of these drugs...

My wife wanted me to get more life insurance and after talking to a buddy in the insurance industry, he convinced me to get my cholesterol checked before getting insurance. Making a long story longer, my cholesterol was high and was put on 20 mg of Simvastatin. I had only been on a statin for 1 month and am having relatively sever memory problems. Most noticeable my short term memory. I can't concentrate on what is being said and have no recollection of what people have told me just moments earlier. I am only 44 years old.

I am 36 years old, have been taking Lovastatin 20mg for 6 months and have been suffering with head aches, unable to sleep at night, and serious short term memory loss. I thought I was losing my mind (literally) until I read these posts. It is effecting my job and my family... the not being able to remember little things. I am grateful to know I am not the only one. I am going to call my Endocrinologist, but know he will not want me to quit the drug. It's tough to know what to do when the Dr.s seem to have the drug companies in their pockets or vice versa. What can it hurt to try going off the drug for a month and see if I feel better? Any thoughts?

Response - I read about the negative side effects (memory loss) on statin drugs in Dr. Michael Roizen and Dr. Mehmet Oz's book (YOU, Staying Young). My husband (who has been on statin for the last few years) has experienced mild memory loss and difficulty in focusing, not sure if this is caused by aging or the statin drug. He stopped taking statin a few months ago, but cholesterol comes right back up. Not sure which is the lesser of the two evils. Unfortunately there is no substantiating research on this topic. Not sure if we can help, thought we want to share

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Virgo

You're struggling to get everything finished in time today, making you feel fractious and tired. At some point you may have to take a pragmatic decision about which tasks must be completed today and which will have to be postponed until another day. Do your best to keep things in proportion otherwise you'll waste time in trivial details and needless nit-picking.
