Tetracycline, minocycline, erythromycin, and doxycycline are the most common antibiotics used to treat rosacea. The papules and pustules symptomatic of rosacea may respond quickly to treatment, but the redness and flushing are less likely to improve. to whom it may concern. I suffered from rosacea many years ago and then it miraculously went away. At the time I never associated it to the fact that I had started taking a drug called urised (not an antibiotic)for an unrelated condition. Many(rosacea free)years later, I stopped taking urised because of a side effect from the drug. The rosacea came back. Apparently, one of the 6 ingredients in urised have an effect on rosacea. I suggested this to the Rosacea Assn. years ago, but they didn't seem to be interested. I use Metrogel to control my rosacea now, but maybe there could be something better???? Maybe some drug manufacturer will see this and check it out.

I have had rosacea for many years. I use the usual topicals. For some reason several years ago I started using Soft Soap antibacterial soap to wash my face when I take my shower. I use Azelex after my shower. Soon after using Soft Soap my dermatologist commented how good my face looked. The next time I went back she was telling me to use Soft Soap (or Dial if preffered). It does really help and is not very expensive.
