I had to do it twice, too, you know. It's a hard decision to be faced with, but it's a better choice than doing what got me back there.
No doubt you'll tire of the system quickly, but if they have good counceling make the most of it. If they don't have good counceling, it falls on you to learn all you can about relapse prevention skills away from what they give. I had both, excellent counseling, and did a lot of work on my own.
I must have been doing something they agreed with, as they had me leading groups, always with a certified counselor present, and asked me to stay on as a Client Advocate too. And, I didn't get what I give on here from thin air either.
You're probably feeling emberrassed by going back, I know how hard it was for me. The bottom line is that you made the best choice you could, FAR BETTER than the alternatives. If you are feeling that, get over it ASAP, you're learning what most of us do, it usually takes more than one attempt to get the life we want back, but you will with time and work.
I'll send you PM as time allows, to talk more privately about a few little things, but only if you're agreeable.
Don't beat yourself up to much. I know how agonizing the decission must have been, but it's a good choice. BTW, you just completed step one... getting it off your chest. Lots of steps to go but they get easier.
Best, AB
Hi Ab. Yes, it was a difficult decision to go back. And I do feel embarrassed and ashamed, but I could tell I was getting worse and worse all the time. I know I did the right thing by just swallowing my pride and asking for their help at the clinic. The price went up just a little since I was there 2 years ago ($14/day now) but still much better than the alternative. I'm going to pay a little more attention to the relapse prevention part of counseling this time. I think that is one of the many things I did wrong. I'm gonna go ahead and turn in for the night. Thank you for being supportive and I'm sure I'll have questions for you in the future. Good night.

Anything I can help with, Nikki, I'll be glad to try.

I'm planning on taking in a meeting tomorrow (Saturday) morning, and I'm past due for a visit to my old clinic. They're kind and caring people and always like seeing an old face come in the door (I think my face qualifies as OLD now), especially when it's not as a returning client looking for help again. If that were the case, though, I know they'd take me for that too. My biggest hesitation is I'm afrraid they'll ask me to work (volunteer) as a Client Advocate again. It's hard to say NO too them after all they did for me.

Have a good weekend, and Oh, is your brother still going too? He can pay half the gas now at least. Lol.

See ya,

AB

No, but I hear of new things all the time. The list of symptoms has nearly doubled in the 8 years I've been around M.
Still, you've been off for quite some time now and the likelyhood of it being M related is miniscule to nil.
Doctors aren't stupid (well most aren't) they do get attitudinal and short sighted, though. The difference between God and doctors is, God doesn't think he's a doctor!
Gotta dash,

Had the back spots for months. Also had them on my neck & face for a while, only the back ones remain. He eventually gave me Doxycycline & went on to talk about how interesting he finds skin & gave me this site to check out, lol. Like i care! Just give me something for f**king bacne!!

That site might work as a sleep aid for ya, AB. You're welcome.

I bet you'll do an awesome job as Client Advocate, if they can convince you to do it. I've seen you help many people on here, and I'm sure you'd be amazing in person as well.
But yes, my little brother is going to the clinic, too. He is helping pay for gas so that helps. He seems like he is doing better, he's been at the clinic 3 months now. He told me he feels guilty because he got me doing pills again, I'm not trying to blame him or anyone for my mistakes. We just have to work hard at making our future better.

You mean you're not playing the sympathy card for 14 bucks a day? I think you've got a pretty lucky bro, Nikki! Tell him, and let him buy all the gas at least. Lol.

And thanks for the kind words, too, but I don't think that's what I want to do. Anyway, I'll only be around here 'til the end of May, I think, so not a good idea, or fair to them, to start something like that just to dive so soon.

Hope your weekend is good,

AB

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Scorpio

You're in a very romantic and sentimental state today. You're also feeling quite sensitive and vulnerable, so you won't want to be around anyone you find abrasive or aggressive. If you meet someone for the first time now you'll think they're wonderful and your relationship will always involve putting them on a pedestal. But don't be too idealistic. They are human, remember!
