Hey I'm going back on Methadone after being off it for 80days. I was dosing at 180mg till I stopped, about 45 days ago I got prescibed suboxone, they have me on 24mg a day and it isn't working anymore, so I am getting back on the methadone. I know when I got off the methadone I had to wait like 3-4 days till I could do suboxone, is it the same way going back to methadone??? All I know is that suboxone isn't cutting it for me, it was at first but now I am up and down and hot and cold and not stable at all. Well Let me know...

No you can use methadone right away but it won't work because of the sub (subuxone prevents any other opiate from working for at least 24 to 72 hours, depending on dose).
I did the same switch (subuxone didn't work for me either, I had been on methadone 24 years and went from 5 mgs of methadone to subs and felt horrible. Subs don't work for pain as well) and it took about 3 days before I felt anytjing from the methadone. Please be careful not to take too much methadone at first! You might overdose because you don't feel anything due to the subs being still in your body but it IS there all the same.
(I know this is an old post but I reply in case anyone needs an answer to the same question)

metsub,
Great advice! I'm glad you said something about being careful about taking too much methadone at first!
I hope that you are feeling better now that your pain is taken care of.
Have a great night.

I'm on Suboxone and I have a question for ya.....I bought some Methadone off the street today and I took about 75mg of it. This was around 2:00pm and I took my 8mg Suboxone at 10:30am. Its now 10:56pm and I'm wondering if I can take my other daily dose of Suboxone, which would be another 8mg. If I take my second dose of Suboxone am I going to go into immediate withdrawal???????? O......BY THE WAY......THE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES JUST WON THE 2008 WORLD SERIES!!!!!!!! HONESTLY, I'M GONNA SAY THIS FOR ALL THE OTHER CITIES OUT THERE.........YOU ALL KNOW DEEP DOWN INSIDE THAT THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA AND ALL IT'S DIE HARD FANS DESERVE EVERY BIT OF THIS CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!!!!!

You're just throwing money away by doing methadone with suboxone. Save your money, do one or the other. Just a thought.

SHOOP, I dont think Carol would post as someone else. She has no need for that. Plus I know for a fact she is very busy trying to move out of her house and wrap up details since her mother's death. Let's leave Carol out of things as she has a lot on her plate at this time. Carol, if you are reading this, HELLO!!!

Lulu why would you switch from suboxone to methadone? What is the situation you are dealing with here... typically the change is from methadone down to suboxone... You really need to do some research before you begin putting methadone in your body... Methadone is a bad choose for pain management unless its chronic pain, and for drug abuse Suboxone is better... suboxone you can get a proper dosing level to function with and it has the naloxin in as a opiate antagonist.. Your doctor sounds like a idiot to be honest I hope you really understand what you are talking about doing.

Just FYI, the Narcan that is in Suboxone is an opiate antagonist, but is not absorbed by the body because Suboxone is taken by the sublingual route. Narcan must be given IV in order to work. It is put in the Suboxone to keep people from shooting it up because it will put you in withdrawal.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Virgo

If you've got an important task to accomplish, this is the time to do it. A Libra Moon ensures that you're level headed, focused and unmoved by the behaviour of others for the next day or so. Don't put any undue pressure on yourself, Virgo: if you don't get it right the first time, you know there'll be another chance. The pessimistic people that you are likely to encounter today need your logic and positive input.
