we have proven that "cold turkey" methadone withdrawals don't have too last months and years of slow taper.i have found thru my two times quitting methadone, roxis, xanax.that a natural high can come as soon as three weeks of proper diet, exercise, acupuncture, medical foods, sauna, etc.the initial lack of sleep and energy can start a cycle of depression and forgetting the basic ways to help our bodies heal.if you can find the power in yourself to not give into fear and negitive self-talk.

together we can get thru withdrawls and feel good again.
for me opiods and mainly methadone crept up on me.and i was never told how tough the withdrawls and damage opiods did to my brain chemistry.i got started on pain pills for dental work and it slowly grew over 15 years.until i found myself a slave to methadone.i couldnt leave town and planned my whole month for my drug.i am free of that with your help and hopefully with this thread we can send the newcomer to get a crash course on detox preps.

i would like your advice for different natural or homeopathic remedy you have tried to help you healing your brain and clear your body from opiods.

i think these are two of the best herbs to start with and tumeric will help taken year around for those of you on methadone for pain.

i highly recommend this. a friend who got cut off from his methadone and roxis because his doctor got shut down.he had wicked back and knee pain from plaster work.he swore by this stuff and my wife noticed a big difference after just three days.its great for the heart too.people used to use spice as medicine and this is the most important.

I think Vitamins are helpful but not the cure-all. Listen to your body, dont decrease more than 10% of your dose at a time and listen to your doctor. You should have no problems. It wont be a cakewalk by any means but if you really listen to your body and follow directions then you will be able to get off methadone.

UltraClear Plus pH medical food provides the same clinically tested macro- and micronutrient profile as UltraClear PLUS, with added nutrients to enhance Phase II detoxification activity and promote the excretion of toxins through the kidneys. Many individuals with compromised detoxification capacity have an altered urinary pH level, which can negatively influence the kidneys' ability to eliminate toxins.

Delivered as a powdered beverage mix, UltraClear Plus pH targets those with an acidic urinary pH level suffering from conditions or symptoms such as:

—Fibromyalgia
—Chronic fatigue syndrome
—Food allergy/intolerance
—Chemical or environmental sensitivity

Promotes kidney and liver detoxification capacity
Protects against potentially damaging reactive oxygen compounds generated during the detoxification process
Delivers additional support for Phase II activity with sesame powder
Enhances the excretion of toxins out of the body by promoting an alkaline urinary pH status with potassium citrate

Hello everyone. I was taking about twenty to thirty mg of methadone for about five months. I took my last does( 30mg ) March 18th. I went 5 days with nothing and then I could not bear it anymore. I got 2 1/2 8mg suboxone from a friend. I took the last half last wed. I have been another three days with nothing at all. I know that suboxone builds in your system so I don't feel really bad. I did start sweating and chills again yesterday and feeling just kind of run down, but not bad. Does anyone have any idea what I'm in store for now.

Vini is spot on Joey , listen to him this man has helped so many of us on here and everything he says is right.

He should look into doing work for recorving addicts .

I had to go cold turkey off 40mls and a benzo addiction in 2000 and i had to get up everyday in rehab and share with other addicts i'd have to go to N/A and help maintain the rehab house so i had no time to wollow in self pity in withdrawals .

Maybe your family coming over is a good thing becaue it gives you something else to worry about and focus on .You need to fill your time as much as you can.

Day1-14 will be the hardist after 14days its all in the mind near enough.

Listen to music , long hot baths , watch films and exercise .Take a multi vitiam tablet aswell and try some of vini's natural vitiams ideas.

Keep coming back and share with us , we're all here for you Joey .

I just spent over an hour writing, but as it happens many times, I forgot to "copy" it before I hit "Post Comment".
Since I don't have a lot of time right now to write it all, there is something I must write here....
Please know that coming off Methadone cold turkey HAS killed some people!!
I am not talking about a lower dose such as 20 or 30mg that many have come off of all at once, but please do not stop cold turkey just because you want off of this right away....
There are some amazing things that DO help withdrawal...vitamins are very important, as well as some of the proven measures many have tried, including some homopathic. Remember that the best withdrawal help you can get is by asking your doctor for a prescription of Clonidine. It is amazing for RLS as well as some other symptoms. I am personally bringing my papers for tapering as well as withdrawal symptoms up to date as well as I have been working on a new paper with my doctor that will be a bit quicker to come off of Methadone than I had on my other paper, as well as not being so quick that it puts you through hell or worse.
I am not a doctor, and please, I don't want to come across as one. The reason I try to help like I do is because I have gotten SO angry at all the doctors, when asked by clients how to come off of methadone the correct way, don't even KNOW the answer!!
I get my information from those who have gone through this before any of us. And I have learned so much from the 100+ people I have helped. And some of it I have learned personally...for I have been tapering off a higher dose I was on, and I can say that by using what others have before me that worked for them has made this not really bad at all. If they all did their jobs and learned the answers to tapering and withdrawal, people such as Vini and I wouldn't need to try to help others.
I do what I do because I really do care. And I know that is also true for Vini.
Much Love,
Rozi

As I said, the Government will expand the biggest methadone syrup program in the world by 50 per cent, and there is not the slightest evidence of the outcomes of this program. It is worth noting that the cure rate on methadone is somewhere in the vicinity of two people out of every 500. The average dose that people on methadone take today, compared to when methadone was introduced in this country, has quadrupled. I ask the Minister for Health to have a long, hard look at this program. The problem areas are takeaways and the easy way that patients get around doctors, who overprescribe methadone. Patients get enough methadone for their own use and then sell the remaining methadone. As I said, I would like to see a real outcome-based study done on methadone and its use, and whether it has been not the cure but the panacea that it was supposed to be, instead of the wallpapering that we seem to be doing with this serious problem and the people using it. As I said, the people of Blacktown and other areas are starting to wonder about the real worth of the methadone program.

Hi Rozi. I also have a HUGE problem with the dr.s (big surprise there...) and have absolutely no faith in what I could be told by one. I finally ran into the dr. who treated my broken leg last year, and AFTER she endured the wrath of my little fury, we got to talking about old times, and she informed me that FOUR years before she graduated med school pharma companies were giving her paid vacations to Hawaii. Must be nice... but WTF???? When did medical practice become prescription rewards??? Well, that's not even to mention the total lack of ability of the majority of dr.s to deal with someone who is addicted.

Hey, SHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I read all the time that mmt is the most studied medical treatment in history. I would have thought maybe treatment for cancer, heart disease, MS, alzheimers', and the list goes on, would have been more studied, but apparently, me, you, the entire population of anyone who has ever studied or thought about medical practice are wrong, and it's methadone maintenance that is the most studied in history. It's strange, the number of overdose deaths weren't recorded 20 years ago, the REAL statistics to newborns who are born on methadone are now available, methadone clinics are now part of many cities now which do NOT have a "look the other way" mentality and so the clients who are proclaiming to be on methadone are actually observed by others, and the current state of the use of methadone is in jeapordy more now than ever before in our country. I would also like to know just what kind of studies it takes to become the most studied medical treatment in history, seeing as here, the more clinics, the worse the reputation for the treatment.

When mmt was first instituted in the USA, it also involved counselling (real) and housing and employment assistance. Now, the only sure thing a person in most clinics can rely on, is they will be given a dose when they show up. And housing assistance MUST have been something no one needed, because it is not offered at the majority of the clinic and hasn't been for a while now.

This is an EXTREMELY serious problem here. I can pull up the link to the local police dept. and find a mug shot of a man arrested two days ago, who is a client at the closest methadone clinic, and JUST got popped for the seventh time since 2004 for making crystal. That's seven times in four years. And this time he even had extra methadone without prescription... BUT, I bet he's paid his bill, so he still gets his dose... What a wonderful the real world of mmt is to observe. I would HATE to know I wanted to stop my destructive lifestyle and had to go on methadone here...
