I have been using meridia for a couple of months now. I i lost about 7 pounds. I notice though that Its not working as stong as it used to. Could it be that I have become immune to it or need a higher dosage? I havent lost much weight for a while now too.

I started taking it on Jun 15. At the time I weighed 197. I went to the dr's yesterday and I am down to 181. And my bp was great. Im following a 1000 cal diet and I exercised everyday. I dvr those 30 min workouts that are on FitTV its totally awesome. I take those 100cal indiv popcorn bags for me to snack on at work and drink lots of water. I soo much energy now. I dropped 3 pants size. I am know down to a 12 and some cases I can wear a 10. I started at a 16! This drug is not a miracle drug but if you implement a healthy diet and workout. IT will work. I have 40 more to lose...

Hi all ~ I am planning on starting Meridia. My Doctor wants me to do some blood work and echo to make sure all is okay that way. I am nervous about the side effects. Those scare me.

I do take synthroid 75mg for thyroid issues. Am I not supposed too with this Meridia?

I have about 103lbs to lose! I am 5'2" and 244lbs!

Hi everyone!
I tried to post a message a few weeks back, so I thought I’d give another try.
This message board/forum is an outstanding resource of information.
I’m a post pancreas/kidney transplant x1 year (6 June) Everything has turned out great other than the fact my “new” pancreas quit producing insulin back in Dec.-Jan. My kidney is working great, after x4 years of dialysis, getting up in the middle of the night or at work for the bathroom is not a bother at all!! However, post surgery I was on steroids and the weight started to come back and not to mention I had an insufferable appetite did not help. Dieting did not help at all. So I approached my PCP about going on Meridia to help my lose my poundage. I have been on since 27th of July and have not weighed myself yet but can tell some loss. My PCP only agreed to prescribe if, the transplant dept/surgeon agreed which he did, and come in monthly to weight in and calorie count to the tune of <1800. I have been doing super on the medication, with the only side effect is dry mouth. I have a little more energy too and increasing getting a bit more so everyday. As some of you had said and I agree, am “excited but skeptical” I have been a type 2 diabetic since 1987 and turned type 1 in Sept. 2001.
I work in healthcare in Physician Relations, for the most part my Dr’s are friends of mine and they keep well informed of pitfalls of taking this medications. I was on 14 medications at first because of the transplant but now down to 8 at present.
I have read through most or all of the message on here and will continue do so, as well update my progress as well.
Be Safe!
James~

I took Sibutramine since May 2nd and I weigh 230. I am now 179. I follow a workout video by Jillian Michaels. It's called "30 Day Shred". It's a little tough, so I usually do it twice or 3 times a week and I do control my diet except for the occassional binge :P. I am now off Sibutramine and am trying to maintain my new weight through exercise and diet. Wish me luck. Oh, and if anyone wants to purchase this Sibutramine/Meridia at a cheaper price than the local pharmacists, I bought mine from http://www.sibutramina15mg.com . They are generics, but contains the same ingredients as Meridia.

Hi All,

I have been reading with interest your experiences with Meridian. I have a prescription for it, and plan to begin taking it soon. I have about 25 pounds to lose and hope to use it as a "jump start" and then go it alone. Here is a question for you. What pharmacy (not online) have you found to be cheapest. I assume they do not carry a generic form as of yet? I checked with Walmart and it was $157 for a 30 day supply of the 15 mg. Thanks for any input you can offer!

Hi! I'm not sure about what is aval in your area but checked Sams' Club and Costco's. The price from Costco was $109.25. It was the lowest in my area; the highest was $137.83! A way big difference. Shop around your area, on-line does not sound safe to me.
Good luck,
~James

Hi all,

I just received a promo coupon from the pharmacy I purchase sibutramine from. http://www.sibutramina15mg.com But as you can tell from my last post here, I've already stopped taking it. But I'm sure you can use it. The promo code is 0f49ce7298 and they are offering 5% on orders below $400 and 10% for orders above $400.

Use it while it's valid. I'm not sure whether it's a coupon code just for one customer or during this promo.

Hi Folks, very usefull and candid information here. Just wondering after starting on MERIDIA and supposedly loosing weight, do we have to be on it for good in order to maintain the new weight. If anyone has lost eight and then kept it off meridia, your informatio is greatly appreciated.

I am going to a weight loss meeting at Kaiser tomorrow and then I will get a prescription for Meridia. I've looked on line to find it cheaper but the sight some people have on here in there blog said 15 mg and when you go- they only offer 5 & 10 gm. Does anyon know where I can get 15 mg cheaper. I was planning on going to my Costco but thought I'd check

I've been on Meridia for 4 days now but I haven't weighed myself. I don't have any appetite and I am not eating. I don't think this is the answer. Does anyone else have this problem. I talked to a woman at Kaiser when I went to my first group meeting to get the prescription. She was coming in afterwards for a 4 week follow up and blood pressure check. She had lost 16 lbs and felt great and hadn't even started exercising. She said she eats 5-6 small meals a day = about every 2 hrs. I guess I should try that. Has anyone else felt like this

The whole idea is to give a change to lose weight and at the same time, modify you diet. Get used to eating the right way and rid yourself of bad habits. I have lost 15 lbs. since this past Aug. I keep a journal as to what I have eating; it give me a picture what’s going in and when I weigh in at my monthly Dr’s appointment; I see what I lost! Lol lol!

Not eating is not the best for you, not unless you’re on a hunger strike. Lol lol! Maybe contact you PCP/Dr’s office for a referral or see their nutritionist. My first few days were like that but I started eating. You will get full quite fast, drinking water helps too.

I have been on Meridia for about two months now. I am down 25lbs and still have about twenty to thirty more to go. I have hit a wall and haven't been losing any weight recently. I am hoping that this is just a small set back and the scales will start to move again (in the right direction of course).

Keep up the great work everyone... it does seem to work.

How are you doing on Meridia?
I've been taking meridia for 4 months and have lost 23 lbs. I've tried so many different diet plans over the years, this is by far the easiest and most effective. I used to make food choices purely based on my cravings, meridia pretty much eliminates those cravings. Once I lost 10 lbs I decided to add some exercise and have really noticed a difference in the way my clothes fit. I still make the decision each day to eat correctly and exercise, it's not all the pill. I'm confident I can do this on my own once I reach my goal weight. The only side affect I've had is some extra sinus pressure and a little nausea in the beginning.

Hi guys. I am wrapping up a 3month stint on Meridia (doc doesn't want me on it longer than that) and have to say it works very well in conjunction with an adjusted diet and regular exercise regiment (3-4 x week cardio/weight training). I have lost about 30 pounds with 2 weeks of pills left. I did take this drug one other time a couple of years ago and lost 70 pounds. I gained back 20 over two years but sustained the 50 pound loss. I got a little comfy in gaining the 20 but got inspired to get the rest of the weight off and drop the last 30-40 pounds so I started it again 3 months ago and have lost the 30 I definitely wanted to lose and hope to lose the very last 10 on my own.

I should also note I have/had no other health problems and never took any other medication alongside Meridia. I think this is the scenario in which Meridia works best and will give the best results. Side effects I have experienced were dry mouth and slight insomnia in the beginning and now, toward the end of my use, fatigue. None of the symptoms were ever serious enough to cause alarm. My blood pressure did raise slightly but not enough to alarm my doctor or to require any action and we have monitored it consistently throughout my use. Hope this info helps.

I'm on phentermine right now, almost 2 whole months and I've lost approximately 18lbs. I'm 5'9, 282lbs with no thyroid due to a goiter, so complete removal of that 2 years ago. I gained 110lbs in little over a year after that.

I have an appointment with my dr. next Monday. I'm going to ask him about Meridia. I work for the company who makes it, so I wouldn't pay anything should it be prescribed to me. I don't see the side effects being any different than the phentermine, and I'd be getting it for free. I'll come back with an update, as I see this thread has been ongoing for quite a while.:)
