PAX wrote: But of course they are not providing free birth control - because we wouldn't want to encourage women to have sex - just men. So true! I don't know the extent of Pfizer's products, but I think free insulin or asthma medicine to the unemployed would be a nicer token than allowing old men to have sex and eat steak, but hey, that's just me....

I'm sure all the wives will be just thrilled with Pfizer -- when the unemployed husband is chasing her around the house all day with his magic wand up in the air. Keep the axe handy, ladies, in case you need to chop some wood.

In these very hard time right know I do agree with the previous comments of of Pfizer and other Drug Companys should offer RX assistance to anyone the currently has lost there jobs or with lower income due to job loss. They actually can obtain the information from the state IDES and the IRS if they pay the fees. This is a win win situation because they are taking care of peoples needs and still producing a profit!

I haven't even read the article yet, let alone the comments, but rock the ef out! Prescriptions are too expensive (even with insurance) and should never have to be considered a luxury.
My hours at work have been cut by 25% so that has messed with my income. I actually stopped filling my prescription for birth control because there are other cheaper alternatives and the money saved fills up my gas tank.

Give away free RXs AND celebrate the sacrament of the holy old geezer erection. Wish they'd go mow the lawn instead!

I am an uninsured Type I diabetic who has worked for over 25 years without a vacation (I am not kidding) who recently lost his health insurance (and obviously cannot get it for the above reason) is down to eating 800 calories a day so I can conserve insulin (I am 15 lbs underweight as of this writing). I paid my whole life into the system only to get nothing in return. Thanks for the free nonsense Pfizer, but I have looked into getting discounted insulin and supplies, and I am told no. My European friends tell me to leave this country in order to get health care in Western Europe, and English isn't my only language so that is appealing, but leaving the US over this; why should I do that, what is happening out there. This is only another form of advertising for big pharma, this is their every intention.

Sex is the best free entertainment out there; do we really need these men possibly impregnating women when admittedly they are (a) unemployed and (b) without health insurance? This strikes me as totally asinine. Viagra is only one of 70 drugs "includ(ing) several diabetes drugs and some of Pfizer's top money makers, from cholesterol fighter Lipitor and painkiller Celebrex to fibromyalgia treatment Lyrica and Viagra for impotence. Drugs from several other popular classes such as antibiotics, antidepressants, antifungal treatments, heart mediations, contraceptives and smoking cessation products also are included." Why are you all kvetching about Viagra?

The idea is good, but providing unnecessary drugs (like Viagra) is ridiculous when they could provide more that actually help people with necessary life functions. Contrary to society's belief, one can live without an erection.

It's all well and good to give the unemployed free drugs, but how about retired people. They have limited incomes and their investments are in the tank. The unemployed are going to go back to work at some point, the retured are not.

Don't Believe the Hype . . So. I work at a grocery store. When you throw an item away due to expiration or damage you declare it as a loss. We mark things down as we approach the expiration date so as to get them into people's hands. The item MUST be thrown out once it expires. We cannot donate it to any one. I would much rather reduce price drastically and allow people the use of my products than to fill my dumpster. I think Pfizer must feel the same way.

Why Viagra???? So jobless men can still get erections? I don't get it... why not give free med's that are actually helping people with their health, not lifestyle?

Not to be cynical, but I'm sure some of this is in response to the potential govmt health care changes being proposed, just as insurers are saying they are going to hold down future price increases. Trying to make themselves look a little better before potential changes are discussed. Don't see their cancer drugs on here, which can run several thousand per month.
