I started taking lexapro two months ago for severe depression and anxiety, first few days i felt weird, like all spaced out, but then felt ok. But about 2 weeks in i had the worst panic attack of my life, lasted about an hour, thought i was dying. then about a week or so later i started having the panic attack for hours and hours a day, went to my GP and she told me to stop taking it. I have been off it for a month now and i am still having the occasional really scary panic attacks, but i seem to be getting them less often. Also, i have experienced the electric shock feeling through my body though that seems to be tapering off as well. Its so strange that the withdrawal symptoms are lasting this long, has anyone else experienced something similar? It just feels odd because i was only taking it for a month and have not started on anything else because i am to scared i will have a similar reaction. I have been having panic attacks since i was a teenager (now i am 24) but they were no where near as bad as those after taking lexapro.

I took it for 3 months and my withdrawals symptoms lasted close to a year. I know this sounds hard to believe but it is true. Symptoms were grinding teeth, and excessive yawning which I never had before I started taking Lexapro.Be patient it does get better.

yes,
took me about 3 months to get back to normal. you wouldn't think it would take that long given it has a half life of 27-32 hours. i think it's more that your body adjusts it internal chemistry to the drug which takes longer to adjust back?
