I took Levaquin for three days for a throat infection. My neck, shoulders, arms and hands began hurting right after the second dosage. Its been three weeks now and the neck and shoulders have gotten better but my hands are feet are in an excruciating pain. Pain killers does not seem to work at all. The worst is in the morning. My life has changed so much due to this poison. I wonder how this pill is still circulating in the market.

I had lots of tests and they dont show the problem. I had needles put in muscles on my arms and legs hooked to a machine with no answer. I thought I had MS or something at that time. After years of the drug I can tell you that you will go through periods of thinking everything is going good for a few weeks and then wham..you try to think what you did to aggrivate it. For me I go through spells now of about 4 days of severe pain in my legs and it is very hard to just go to the bathroom and walk around the house. Then it will go away (except for my left knee) for a few weeks. |

I found a great site full of Levaquin information about symptoms and the potential for liability to make the the manufacturers pay for the pain they have caused. It is aptly names levaquinblog.com .

Unfortunately, the manufacturer has managed to keep this poison on the market for over a decade. However, the time has come for awareness. For more information visit our blog at levaquinblog.com .

I was prescribed Levaquin for a infection 15 months ago. Within weeks I started to have pins and needles pain in my feet, hands and left side of my face. It then slowly started to go numb in the same places. Also at the same time I had the overall body soreness, exp in hips and Achilles of both feet. My memory has gotten bad and it feels like I'm in a "fog" all the time.It got so bad that I feel like I'm 90 years old, can't even walk to the bathroom. The pain in the feet is unbearable. I have been checked out for Lime disease, B-12 def., MS, peronial neurapothy, with nerve damage. 2 1/2 months ago I was put on Levaquin again for 5 days and within weeks the shoulder pain had started now. Last month came upon the information online about the dangers of Levaquin. Now feel like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop as far as how much worse the symtoms can get. This stuff is nothing but poison. I can't believe that at 55 I feel this way. Been active and in good shape my whole life but feel like a handicapped person now.....

You really need to be extra-aware of the possibility of tendon damage. There have been a lot of reports on these side Levaquin. A lot of people have developed serious tendon injuries including tendon ruptures and severe tendonitis. Take a look at www.levaquinblog.com -- there's lots of literature and studies showing that many takers of fluoroquinolones have suffered terrible side effects after just single uses. You need to be aware of this so you can take action (like getting to a doctor) before major damage sets in. Hope this helps.

On the 28 October 2009 my doctor prescribed levofloxacin for severe sore throat. After taking the medication my fingers became swollen but i did not suspect it was the antibiotic. On day 2 my legs and hands were extremely painful.I could hardly walk because my joints were also swollen.I rubbed arnica oil, voltaren and had hot tub baths just to relieve pain.On day 3 after taking antibiotic the pain became very severe.I now suspcted that the antibiotic was causing the problem so i called my doctor and he said i should stop the medication and this only happens in rare cases.I still suffer from muscle and joint pains but not as severe as the beginning.I go for accupuncture treatment which is helping with the pain.I dont think i would ever take doctors medication in a hurry after all the excruitiating pain i've been through.I hope i recover soon from acupuncture treatment.

I was given levaquin in 2001 for a kidney infection. I only took 2 pills, and am still in pain, dizzy and fatigued 8 years later. That this drug stays on the market is criminal.
