I was on Lamictal @ 25mg for about 6 months, then for over a year at 50mg - I'd had a terrible experience with Effexor, and refused to take any "traditional" anti-depressants after that. Anyway, the Lamictal was fine until recently, suddenly I could swear I just felt the drug stop working: I would go through these phases of depression, which I tried to tell myself were just "bad moods". But after almost a solid week of this depression, I went to my doctor, who recommended bringing me up to 100mg. I'm up to the 100mg dose now - as of yesterday - but I've been feeling strange. Foggy, clumsy, daydreamy, SLOW, spacey, forgetful. Out of it. I definitely don't feel depressed; just...strange. Has anyone else been through this? I think it'll go away as I adjust but for now it's a little tough.

One more thing: I seriously used to call Lamictal "the white shield of sanity" because of how much it helped me when I first started taking it (the shield-shaped tablets...:). This initial experience makes me optimistic about continuing. I'd be interested to hear others' thoughts.

Thx!

It's been almost three months since I started Lamictal (12.5 - 25 - 50 mg) and it's been just wonderful. I had been on antidepressants on and off for 10 years (first Effexor then Prozac) and they didn't do the job due to my Bipolar II.
Everything was going fine until last week, where I started going into my all-so-familiar depressed mode, for no psychological reasons. I started increasing my dose (75 for now) and already on the second day my mood started to pick up.
I feel very positive about this med, and really hope that it will continue to work, as it is not easy living with fluctuating moods.
