Get a life folks, no one is going to write positive things, and ALL will embelish their bad experiences. Ever think that perhaps your "withrdrawals" are actually a relapse of WHY you started taking it in the first place?? I've weaned off TWICE in 7 yrs successfully, over 6 weeks with NO KNOW effects. I took it to get me out of a GAD HOLE!!!!!! The pdoc ****NOTE PSYCH DOC NOT GP***** slowly added Zoloft, and as we upped the Zoloft, down came the klonopin SLOWLY. Life is good, and stop reading the negative posts. Alcohol withdrawals can be WAY worse, but yet most do it......just listen to your doc, and I recommend a REAL doc to handle these meds. Not the guy you see once a yr for a check up!

Klonopin took away my life and my family's lives, by making me make the wrong decisions about jobs,and my condominium.I am faced with severe loss.I want to sue to regain my dignity.Will anyone join a class action lawsuit?

This med has to be weend for as long as it takes your brain to function without. For me it wasnt an addiction thing it was a psycological fixing of returning to my state after, For me this is the miricle med, I stopped pretty much within a week 4mg for 10 years and it was an absolute mind wreckaning, i balanced after 3 months, and went back on reocurring anziety. This sweet little pill causes major change in the brain for me 10 years on . This med saves my life

I take 1mg of klonopin at bedtime for restless leg syndrome. Yes, I have taken all of the Parkie pills and they don't effect it. I am also on Lyrica and Gabitril for neuropathic pain and they don't address it.

I have been on it off and on for 10 years and had no trouble going off of it, using a very slow taper when we tried other meds. I am still taking the 1mg that was prescribed for me ten years ago. As stated earlier, we are all different. Best wishes.

I was on Klonopin 1mg bedtime for RLS for eight years and never needed an increase. I was swtiched over to anti Parkinsonisan meds for the RLS for a few years and they quit working. I am back on 1 mg. Klonopin at bedtime again and doing well.

I tapered off of 2mg at bedtime several years ago, for RLS, with no difficulty at all. No side effects. A lot of doctors will switch the patient from klonopin to Vallium, then taper as it does tend to be easier. Good Luck.

i Have been on kpins for years and getting off of it is pure hell . You think your going crazy and your body goes numb and its hard to function . Just remember your not going crazy it just takes a long time to get through try weening if possible .. Talk to a doctor please don't quit cold turkey . I have been to the er so many times trying to quit kpins i quit quitting and just deal with taking it everyday. Good luck. RD

I took 2mg at bedtime for 10 years for RLS and switched to a Parkie pill for several years. I did a slow, six month, taper off of the Klonopin and had no problem whatsoever. The Parkies quit working so I am back on Klonopin. It should be noted that over the years, I never needed an increase in dosage to get the job done. Best wishes.

I was off kpins for three days cold turkey. I had chest pains and thought i was dying i couldn't breath and cold sweats no sleep shaking the worst ever i would rather take it than have to go through that again or taper for months i finally picked up a script and got back on i took 3mg to get back and 1mg before bed its been 10hrs and i'm finally feeling normal again except being tired of lack of sleep a very bad drug to stop cold turkey ...

I've been on Clonazepam (generic Klonopin) for about 20 years. I started having anxiety at a very young age, and I was first on Xanax, but my Dr. put me on Klonopin because it lasts longer in your system. When I first started taking it, I would always take less than what was prescribed because I didn't want to get on too much of it.

Anyway, I take .5mg a day. Some of you reading this will think "crap, I take more than that". But some people, like with alcohol, need more to get them sedated. I was on 1.5mgs per day, but I tapered off slowly (.125 a week). until I'm on this dosage. I would like to eventually get off of it completely, but I'd rather take it than experience the type of anxiety I had before taking it.

Oh, and I noticed that not all generics are the same; I have been using Teva for all of these years; I recently tried the Caraco brand and it's not that I didn't like it, but it made me feel more sedated and kinda weird in comparison to the Teva brand.

I won't worry about taking this med for life. There are lots of people who need medication for different reasons; I would try to take the least amount, for you, that does the trick but doesn't over sedate you....

Hello! I was just given Klonopin by my dr for anxiety. In the past I have used xanax...AS NEEDED. That is kind of what I thought Klonopin was...can any one tell me if I can take this med. just when I feel an attack coming on? As I am reading here I feel so bad about people dealing with this their whole lives. Any suggestions to keep me from getting addicted and getting through some rough patches would be helpful!

I just started taking CLONAZEPAM .5mg two times per day for anxiety/social anxiety/occasional panic attacks.
All that I have read so far are horror stories regarding this medication. Are there any people who have been helped and have something good to say?
Also, can anyone else recommend a good social anxiety/anxiety med that I could bring up to my doctor?

I have been taking klonopin as needed for 5 years. It helps with my anxiety and hand/voice tremors. Since it has changed my life for the better I only take it when I need it so I won't become tolerant/dependent. The only problem or side effect is that it makes me weak if I ride the bike or exercise the same day.
