Severe panic attacks! Where one almost faints, can stay up for 2-3 nights at a time...hyperventilates, paces all day and night?
My husbands been on this med since Feb 08, after switching from Dilantin because of his liver. He wa hit in the head with a tree branch in March 2006, didn't start having seizures until 6-7 months later...took docs a while to put 2 + 2 together for the DX. He's NEVER had ANY problems with the med before about a month ago, and all of a sudden, these attacks come daily! For the last 2 weeks....they're horrible to watch...and he's NOT on any other medication for anything! Just the Keppra, 500 mg in the am...(supposed to be on 2, but we can't afford it with no insurance or $$$) ANYBODY? |

I would recommend two things: 1) Get a coupon from UCB or your doc for a discount! 2) See if supplemental vitamins, especially calcium, magnesium, and B vitamins (folic acid, B12, and B6) helps with the panic attacks.
I was having severe panic attacks (forgot HOW to breathe!) and bad leg cramps. I did not have a serum deficiency, but the levels were on the low side and my dr recommended vitamins. That helped me, as did the coupons. |

HusbandT and Sam,
I have have Seiz. Disorder for sometime now, lil over a decade, no known root cause and not sure what brings the seizures on. After several variety of meds I have found Keppra and Depokote - maxed on both taken twice a day to be the best solution. Interestingly, after reading both posts I find that what I have previously viewed as tremors, or slight onset of a seizure to be the exact symptoms you express here! The panic attacks, a good place to start. This has no control as to time or food sleep deprivation or other consistent factors noticed. That is, they can happen anytime. Usually, the attacks are followed by some sort of breathing irregularity. I remember my ex-wife used to notice and say 'breath, Larry, breath' often this would bring me back in to the real world. Most times I get a sensation where I seem to go away for a moment or two, this always happens after a prolonged sleep ( mornings)This is most always accompanied by the stoppage in breathing. I woke up this morning, again with a severe leg cramp, could not move it in any direction. Crazy, I have always associated these with the onset of a seizure, not as a result of the preventive meds.:( I will try the vitamins and go from there... |
