I am 39 - diagnosed in October of 2004. Same timeline as yours, except I am on week 46 of Herceptin. I am scheduled to be done at the end of June, but there is a study coming out on the impact of more than one year.(It comes out in June.)

SHE'S BEEN GETTING HERCEPTIN EVERY 3 WEEKS AND HAS HAD NO SIDE AFFECTS. SHE ALSO WAS DIAGNOSED WITH IBC AND DID 10 ROUNDS OF CHEMO AND HAD 30 ROUNDS OF RADIATION ALONG WITH THE MODIFIED RADICAL MASTECTOMY. I HOPE YOU DO AS WELL AS SHE HAS DONE WITH THE HERCEPTIN.

I was diagnosed with IBC in Aug 2008, and after chemo, surgery, and radiation, am stioll receiving herceptin till Jan 2010. Please write back to me at ladyrosli@aol.com and let me how you're doing. There has been very little clear info on IBC. I hope to learn your experience, and weca keep in touch if you are ok with it. THANKS :) Sue R

My mom, age 65, was diagnosed in October 2009 with IBC. She has been going through Chemo and responding well but not with Herceptin (I don't think)- I just recently saw the 'Living Proof' Movie about Herceptin and Dr Slamon's research. My question is... Does Herceptin work as well with IBC as other other forms of Breast Cancers that show 'Lumps'?

My mom was dignosed with IBC April 2008. She had 4 rounds of FAC followed by a bilateral mastectomy (she opted for both, nly had cancer on the left side) then 4 more rounds of Taxotere and Carboplatin then radiation and has been on Herceptin ever since (every 3 weeks). Her Onc wants to take her off it since it's been way more than a year and her heart function is dipping. But so far she has had clean Pet Scans (thank God). Has anyone stayed on Herceptin for prolonged periods? She is doing well but afraid to hurt her heart. Getting a second opinion at UCLA tomorrow.
