side effects of Geodon

I used Geodon last night for the first time, 40mg. at bedtime, within three hours, I had full blown flu symptoms, nausea, feeling like sea sickness, dizzy, feeling like passing out, blacking out, can't stand up. When I closed my eyes to try to sleep, mind was racing like match box cars going around a windy track. Couldn't sleep,
I got up in the morning and saw double, my alarm clock numbers were out of whack..
pharmacist and doctors office said to "not take anymore" and that's what I intend to do....take no more.
I hope no one else had as bad of a night as I did.

Do not give GEODON to children. My son who is 13 years old has autisim and was prescribed geodon 8-10-06 he was rushed to childrens hospital with his testicals as big as my fist, one permanent blood shot eye, insommnia, prolonged eretion as well .

My 15 year old son is in the autism spectrum. He has been taking Geodon for nearly 3 mo. The last few days he keeps complaining of not feeling right. He has had episodes that sound almost psychotic. He gets extremely agaitated. I am wondering if this is caused by the Geodon.

I had the exact same experience...the first night i took 80mg and could not walk upstairs to my bed from the basement. I felt very sick like i was going to throw up, dizzy and congested. The next night I took 140mg and the exact same thing happened...i couldnt drive my car home from the movies and i could barely make it to my bed.

My mother started taking geodon after a sicide attempt and I can tell you she is so much worse pysically and mentally than she was before. Its a very dangerous drug

I couldn't even take care of my son on GEODON!!! Major wieght gain, total zombie. Really out of it. After seeing a BRIAN DR. not a quack that thinks meds and talking will help you get better, I FINALLY got my right meds for what MY BRAIN need excatly. I tried Geodon for a week and it felt like someone stole my soul. I couldn't work, form sentences or remain conscious. I reluctanly went back to Zyprexa, on which I function relatively normally, aside from the weight gain.

I'd suggest taking him to see a child psychiatrist immediately. They know the side effects of anti-psychotics when used in children. A child may have totally different side effects than a typical adult would to this medication. Don't stop the medication without consultation with a psychiatrist, but please take him to see one ASAP.

I have been taking Geodon for 5 years now, 160Mg, and it stopped most of my symptoms of schitzophrenia with no replapse. Only side effect I know about is muscle rigidity, when I try to do anything requireing lots of psyhical movement I get muscle cramps and profuse sweating.

hi, even thinking of taking this medicine for psychiatric use is dangerous!

i took it to recover from psychosis, it did absolutelly nothing! except it gave me Tardive dyskinesia, blepharospasm, extreme anxiety! aggrevation of my psychosis, loss of short term memory aound that was also very bad, felt like a zombie, heart palpilations, this is a satanic medicine compared to the older meds like most people seem to tolerate much better like Zyprexa, Seroquel,

i'm not telling you what to do or not, but just be VERY CAREFULL!!! VERY!! i have 2 years tardive dyskinesia after 3 weeks of geodon use

i hope someone is doing ok on this shit, but i aint

also i typed in my name because people are looking what i am doing on the internet! all i can say is you dogs diserve to be on geodon! a $300 medicine i paid for , and it gave me nothing but death experiences!

I have been taking Geodon for 2 months now and have expereinced several side effects. I loved it at first but then I noticed I couldn't wake up at night even when my children were sick and needed me. I woke up this morning feeling like my heart was going to pound out of my chest I felt horrible but couldn't sit still. I thought I was having a panic attack until I read the side effects and it said it can cause irreagular heart beats. I'm never taking it again and I'm going to see the doctor first thing in the morning.

this made me psychotic like i never existed in the first place and i am an adult.. do not give this to your kid if he complaints quit immediatelly

I´m taking Ziprasidone for 2 years now. Most of the time 60mg per day, now 40mg. In the first weeks I had some side effects. But by the time it became more and more seldom.
Compared to many other antipsychotic drugs Ziprasidone has very few side effects which are not serious. This counts only for myself. Other people might think different.

I started taking geodin on 5/07/07. No other drugs have worked fo me. I hope this is not like
what most of you have said. My doctor is very forward and I trust his judgement. So far there is nothing I am worried about but gaining weight
like I have on all of the other psychotic drugs.

Hey cindy I just started this past week too. By doctor said no weight gain and switched me from lithium bc of acne (but I tihnk the acne may have just been stress because I've been taking Lithium ER for 2 years and acne just started.)

I would say that at first I took it at night because she said sleepyness would be a problem, and the first few days it made me sleepy right away and I couldn't get up until 1PM. But now it makes me restless. It's 6 am and I havn't slept after not sleeping much last night. I'm sure its the Geodon. My mom (a nurse practitioner who discussed the drug with Geodon representatives at her work) told me to try taking it in the morning. So I didnt even take it last night and I still havn't slept. I plan to go back to Lithium as soon as possible.

I suggest Lithium to anyone with Bipolor II (hypomania).

Weight gain should not be a problem for most of the people taking Geodon. I´ve lost about 6 kilogram while taking it. My body mass index is approximately 19.

Its been a life saver for me. The first day i hated my Doc for prescribing it but since then it's been amazing. I haven't had any good effects from other drugs. This one has saved my life.

I have been taking 160 mgs of geodon along with 50 mgs of seroquel for about 4 months now and for the first time in years I feel like the old me again. Don't get me wrong I still have my days that I miss the mania but I actually have hope now that I can have a normal life. I have also lost 25 pounds that I had gained while on a much higher dosage of seroquel. I do have concerns of the long term effects on my body but that is the catch 22 of bipolar you have to treat the symptoms right now and worry about the long term effects later.

My son was put on geodon after taking risperdal for years. With risperdal, he was a little on the lazy side but happy. Geodon is the worse pill I've ever seen. After the first few weeks, he literally began to bounce off the walls, he was so hyper. He couldn't eat, couldn't sleep and was irritable all of the time. He ended up throwing out hundreds of dollars worth of video games because he felt they were making him feel sick. Finally, we saw another dr. and he put him back on his old meds, resperdal, eskalith. Right away he became a nicer person. Geodon stinks!
