Gina, I have all the surgeries. The lithotripsy is the easiest one to have. They will sedate you and lay you on a table of sorts. This pad will be put against the kidney that needs the lithotripsy. If you are sedated enough, it is not bad at all. I would much rather have that any other procedure. You might be a little sore on that side the next day, but take Tylenol and you will do fine. I am having the lazer surgery tomorrow. Do you know anything about that? That is the only surgery I have not had. You will do fine. Just do what they ask you to do and relax as much as you can. It will be over before you know it. They do not knock you out. They relax you and that makes it better. Hope I helped.
I've had two lithotripsey's and was under general anesthesia both times. Wake up and don't remember a thing. Wasn't too bad, am now waiting for the fragments to pass, very annoying. Feel the urge to pee all the time....

I've had several kidney stones. Yes it hurts like a son of a b*****. The first time is the worst because you don't know what's happening. Just take the pain killers. If the stones are too big, you break them with the lithrotripsy. If they're small, they will pass no problem. It's the intermediate sized ones that really really hurt. Women that I've talked to that have had stones say it's worse than pregnancy. Just one of those things in life that you have to deal with, sorry there is no easy answer, but I would say that now that I know what's going on during a kidney stone attack, it's easier to deal with. It won't kill you. Make sure you have a good urologist.
dont give info that they wont kill , cause u are dead wrong kidneys are very complex and can shut down from multiple attacks from stone pain and injurries due to stones. ttkwik420@yahoo.com

I am a 41 yr old who has suffered from kidney stones for the past 14 years. I have had so many I lost track over 100 easily plenty of lithos nephrostomy once in right kidney and more pain than any human should have in a lifetime. Calcium oxcolate is the type and so far nothing works just keep getting them. My last xray they didn't even count just said multiple stones in each kidney. Urg anyhow question on something I seemed to notice.... Anyone else seem to think stress has anything to do with stones?
